Happy Customer at the Regent

Advantages: Lovely modern rooms & wonderful breakfast
Disadvantages: Room slightly smaller than expacted

I went to the Regent Hotel in February 08 for a 2 night stay. I found the hotel after endless hotel searches in Ambleside which seemed to all bring up dated, old-fashioned looking hotels which weren't what we wanted. The Regent offered a refreshing alternative with modern looking bedroom, all recently refurbished. We paid £300 for 2nights bed and breakfast for 2 people. The hotel was easy to find and was right near Lake Windermere as promised. We managed to park the car easily in the car-park, although we did notice that once everyone had checked in for the day the car-park looked rather full. It was only a short walk from where we parked to the reception, we only had small weekend bags but wouldn't have had a problem with suitcases. The staff were friendly on arrival and were efficient and quick in finding our key and getting us to ...

Review of Regent Hotel, Ambleside

Lovely Hotel In The Heart Of Ambleside

Advantages: Location, pool, nice rooms, excellent food, excellent service
Disadvantages: None that spring to mind

the only one available with a large balcony for the dog so we made do. It was a decent size room and quite tastefully decorated with plenty of storage and wardrobe space and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was very nice too fairly modern and with a bath and shower above. Out on the balcony there was a view past the car park of the fells and stream at the back of Ambleside. If we were to stay here again we would probably ask for a double room but would not be worried if this was the only room available, and if its a twin room you are after then obviously its perfect. Breakfast and the Staff ************************* The breakfast was extremely good, as it so often is in the lakes the full english using locally grown bacon and sausage, and there was also a good selection of cereal, fruit, toast, fruit juices, tea and coffee ...

Review of Best Western Ambleside Salutation Hotel, Ambleside

Eden Lake

Advantages: Powerful horror, genuinely scary
Disadvantages: Sickening to watch

It took me at least a week to come to a semi conclusion of how I felt about Eden Lake; it took me a few days at least to get over the initial shock and emotion felt by watching it. And I have to say that the film I am about to review is like nothing I have seen before. Eden Lake, is an English film directed by a man called James Watkins, I had never heard of the film nor the director and I was not that enthusiastic about watching it, but after a day moping about alone I wanted something scary to watch and it was in the horror section of my local movie shop at a price of £4 so I thought I would give it a watch. Sometimes I just crave something to give me a bit of a scare. Horror films which are genuinely scary are few and far between and it is almost unheard of to find one which gives you more than a few jumps and actually offers ...
