This Hotel is rated as 3* according to the 2004 review. However, having stayed in Paris many times, we were well aware when we booked that the number of stars advertised by a hotel often doesn't mean a lot. Never take En Suite for granted, for instance, is rule number 1 when staying on the continent (we've learnt the hard way!!) However, this hotel definately deserved its 3 stars, and would fit the bill of a 3 star hotel in the UK.
We stayed at the Regina Opera for 2 nights in February 2004. The hotel is located in the 10th Arrondissement in an easily accessible location. It's off the main street so it's not too noisy at night, in an area that seems to have a large number of Turkish residents and restaurants. I know the Palace Hotel in Bologna because I stayed there every year when we had our annual teachers' conference. I would say it is a
superior three star hotel.
First the location- it is very central just a few minutes walk from the main square Piazza Maggiore. It is tucked away in a small street off the main Via dell'Indipendenza.
The organisation I worked for chose the hotel I think because of its central location and also because it has a large number of rooms. All are comfortable and perfectly well appointed. There is a certain old world style reception area. The quality price trade -off is just right.
Breakfast is usually included and is more than adequate. They had a full breakfast bar the last time I was there and you can order coffee or tea from the staff. They have great cornetti as well which are fresh every morning ...
Advantages: Close to transport, clean hotel! Disadvantages: none
In brief, this was a lovely hotel to stay at- in the heart of Vienna and close to all public transport links. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money.

Rooms:
I had a single room which came with a double bed, TV, wardrobe, shower, safe, minibar, fridge and table.
The room was spacious, had air con and was very clean. I had a fantastic view of the park outside and the only gothic cathedral in Vienna which was right next door. the maid came in every day and the room was cleaned to a high standard. The bed was comfortable and although there was no iron, when requeste it was brought straight up to my room with an ironing board.
Facilities:
There as no PC with internet connection however there was a wreless internet connection in the lobby ...
