Lausanne - The Olympic Capital

Advantages: Great sports, great shops, breathtaking views, boat ride to Evian, calm and relaxed atmosphere
Disadvantages: Expensive trains, doesn't really cater for some food allergies such as coeliac

As a keen traveller, Switzerland seemed a very appealing destination for myself but i didn't know how good it actually was until I arrived. I stayed a short drive from Lausanne which is located North of Lake Geneva (or Lac Leman as it is named by the Swiss). The nearest airport is Geneva, and Lausanne can easily be reached from here. Lausanne is a very beautiful city with some of the most breathtaking views over the mountains that you will ever behold. The first thing that hit me as I walked into Lausanne's centre was the Olympic Museum. If you are interested in sports, Lausanne is therefore the place to go. This Olympic Museum holds some of the most interesting and impressive Olympic memoribilia in the world. It is also the home to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and a number of other sporting federations ...

Review of Lausanne (Switzerland)

Regina Spektor Begin to hope.

Advantages: an unusual yet interesting and easy listening experience.
Disadvantages: Unusual style, not liked by all.

This cd has to be one of the most interesting purchases for me this year. The lyrics are orginal and Regina's voice is incredibly enticing and spellbinding. All songs have the ingredients needed for a hit, clever metaphors, catchy tunes, thought provoking lyrics and incredible individuality. There are also a great number of songs, (mainly fidelity!) that will quite literally be stuck in your head for days, possibly even weeks!!! Will be enjoyed thoroughly by people who also like Fiona Apple, Natalie Merchant, etc. Although not exactly the same in genre and sound as the two mentioned singers Regina has equal if not more superior uniqueness. I would highly recommend this buy, it is great value for money and a life time music investment! There really will be a song for everyone on this album! My ratings of songs included on the album ...

Review of Begin To Hope - Regina Spektor

Abotel Regina Opera, Opera Region, Paris

Advantages: Clean, budget-priced accommodation, easily accessible
Disadvantages: Area OK, but not the prettiest part of Paris

11 BIS RUE DE MAZAGRAN , Paris This Hotel is rated as 3* according to the 2004 review. However, having stayed in Paris many times, we were well aware when we booked that the number of stars advertised by a hotel often doesn't mean a lot. Never take En Suite for granted, for instance, is rule number 1 when staying on the continent (we've learnt the hard way!!) However, this hotel definately deserved its 3 stars, and would fit the bill of a 3 star hotel in the UK. We stayed at the Regina Opera for 2 nights in February 2004. The hotel is located in the 10th Arrondissement in an easily accessible location. It's off the main street so it's not too noisy at night, in an area that seems to have a large number of Turkish residents and restaurants. Back on the main road, however, are a wide variety of bars, clubs and restaurants to take ...
