We took the S-bahn trains and got off at the new Berlin Hauptbahnhof central station. The outstanding design of the station houses 2 floors of shops and it's one of the largest and most modern stations in Europe.
A short walk from the central train station is the Reichstag German Parliament.
The glass dome at the roof of the German parliament, designed by Norman Foster, gives you a bird's eye view of the city. The dome with its mirrored central funnel symbolizes that the German government keeps no secrets from its people. At the entrance of the parliament, displayed the quote Dem deutschen Volke(meaning To the German people), another indication of democracy in Germany. There is a slopped surface for you to go to the top of the dome where you will find some seats. The top is hollow, just like the Pantheon, and you can see the beautiful blue sky when the weather is fine.
The good thing about the Reichstag is that there is no admission charge. However, be prepared to wait for at least an hour as they require you to go through security and have your bags checked. Also, it's better to visit it in the summer. There are no shelter outside the parliament and we literally waited in the cold for almost two hours!!!
