The first time I ever visited Paris I stayed at this hotel. I just left it up to my boyfriend and his dad to choose the accommodation as I knew nothing about this city at the time, except that it had the Eiffel Tower! When we looked it up on the internet there were a few flattering photographs, and because it was so close to the Gare du Nord (where we arrive from the Eurostar) it seemed like the perfect little hotel. It's in a great location for a hotel that isn't too pricey, or too cheap.
Location
It's located in the heart of Paris, it's a lovely traditional looking building and is in the immediate neighbourhood of the amazing St Quention Market. This is a indoor market, it's hard to miss as it's a large metal stucture and is quite impressive and attractive. It's a good place to buy 'real' French food, although there is a no food policy in the hotel.
This hotel benefits from excellent access to the Eurostar and Thalys rail services. The main tourist attractions such as Sacré Coeur, Opéra, Louvre, Place de la Concorde, Les Halles, the Stade fe France and the famous Parisian department stores (Galeries Lafayette and Printemps) are just a few metro stops away. Traveling can be quite expensive if you don't book ahead and find the right pass. For guests who like nightlife there is a good choice of various theatres, cinemas and discotheques, and of course lots and lots of bars.Hotel Facilities

Tour desk
I've never had to see the parking facilities as I always travel on the Eurostar and just walk around, so it may be best to phone up and see what the situation is. I've not really looked at disabled access but from what I can remember there is a relatively small lift, so maybe there is a different one for wheelchair users, there is a large disabled toilet in the lobby, and slopes to help
you in the dining room and entrance to the hotel. When you are checking out you're asked to leave your room by midday, usually when this happens I won't be leaving Paris till late afternoon / early evening. You can ask the people at reception to look after your bags, and last time we put them in a big storage room, I think the hotel staff just keep an eye on the room, so if you don't want to risk losing anything valuable lock up your bag or keep it on you if you can. I do think it's quite safe there.
First Impression
It is only a few minutes walk from the station that we arrived at on Eurostar, but I think it took us half an hour to find it the first time! It's slightly hidden and a little bit away from the main roads, which cuts out a lot of the noise from the busy traffic (you'll really appreciate that once your hear how loud and echoey the streets get, even at night). It's located down a nice narrow street with one way traffic, and has a few other small hotels around it. There is a part of the road where you can park bicycles, I might be wrong but I think it's for the types of bikes that you can rent all over Paris, so if I'm right then it would be really handy to park it by the hotel. I'm probably wrong though... Once you find the hotel it's relatively easy to find again (unless you're me) as it's pretty much a straight walk from the station and right next to the big indoor market.
From the outside it looks quite small, when you go through the doors there is a seating area on your left which tends to have newspapers and magazines, some are in English. There is also a stand with leaflets to give you advice on great days out etc. There is a smaller seating area on your right where there is a computer with free internet access, this is really useful, except I can't get used to the French keyboards! There is always a friendly person working at the reception (occasionally they've popped out to the very local supermarket for something), we do our best to speak French but some of the staff are good at English. Just past the Reception is the entrance to the stairs, which is a large sort of spiral staircase with big banisters, I've only used it once as I'm more of a lift person! The lift holds only two people, and your luggage can fit if you don't have too much. It also shakes and wobbles if you jump up and down as I realised.
Breakfast area
There is also a breakfast area it's not huge so it's down to luck if it's empty or quiet, as most people staying there are in small groups. They offer a standard breakfast or cereals, french breads, croissants, toast etc. There are free machines for instant hot drinks, and a machine for orange juice - with or without bits. As you can eat as much as you like it's worth the money, the earlier you arrive the more fresh and bigger the selection. I notice people like to touch the food and not take it so maybe get up early to avoid that!! The last time we stayed here, for some reason it worked out cheaper if we had bought breakfast included which is good if you're on a tight budget. I think it's worth visiting the many cafés in the area as there are so many, what's the point in eating in your hotel with other tourists when you have Paris!
The hotel has 51 good quality bedrooms, some rooms are slightly smaller than others but there is everything you need in them. I always said to my boyfriend if we came back to Paris let's try another hotel, but for practicality reasons we always end up here, so I've seen a few of their bedrooms. So far I've noticed if you have a slightly smaller room the view or bathroom seems better, the last time I was there it was a small room but we had a little balcony with some little chairs and tables on them so you could see much more of Paris from that room, which made up for the smaller bedroom. We had a big room once but the view wasn't great at all, if you look at the fire map you can see there seems to be one big room on each floor. The telephone ring is very loud and sounds like a fire alarm, it's horrible! There are a few English channels, CNN is quite good to have. So far our double beds have always been two single beds together which is a big annoying. I haven't fallen down the gap in the middle just yet, but I'm going back to this hotel on my birthday next month, so we'll see! There is always spare bedding and

pillows in the cupboard, the beds are quite comfortable. If you're a smoker you'll need to ask for a smoking room, I think they just put an ashtray in..Room too small?
I've never really found the rooms small, maybe a tight squeeze at the end of the bed where the desk can be, but either way we spend most of the day out of the hotel, and it's great to come back and lay on the comfy bed and watch some French TV. I've only ever gone in a pair, and the space has always been fine, as I said, all the rooms vary. It may be quite tight with children, see below in hotel policies.
Bathrooms
The bathrooms vary a little too, the first time I went there was a bath, no shower, but last time I had a bath and shower. The water has always been very hot, and long lasting, this is great when you've been walking around all day. There's always shampoo, soaps, lots of towels and a shower cap! There is a hair dryer too. I've noticed the bathroom's are always very clean, and there are plenty of large and small towels, toilet paper and tissues. A cleaner comes and replaces anything you've used each day, they also sort out your bedroom too so your room always looks like you've just arrived each day.
Mini bar
There is a mini bar, you drink what you like out of a selection of soft drinks or alcohol, and you tell reception when you leave how much you've drunk, I assume the cleaners make a note of it too, as they'll replace anything you've used.
Local supermarket
There is a small supermarket right next to the hotel, it's really useful if you want to take some snacks or drink to the hotel for the night, but remember you're not really meant to have food in you room, but it's a lot cheaper than having drinks out of the mini bar..
Hallway and doors
I sleep lightly so this hotel isn't great for me as you hear other people running about, and shouting at their children etc. The bedroom doors shut hard to ensure they shut properly so people tend to let them slam. It was better last time as we were on a higher floor and weren't near the rattly lift either.
The view
There are small windows in the corridors and some of them have have a view of the Eiffel Tower, it's very small though but at night its lit up and easier to see.
Bedroom view It depends how lucky you are really, the view from our bigger room faced other windows from the hotel, and looked onto a roof from the hotel (I think), and you couldn't actually see any of Paris and it was a bit messy. I didn't like my window being so close to the other room's windows either. Last time we had a smaller room with two large windows where you can step onto a small balcony which was joined onto our neighbour's balcony. I didn't really like laying in bed with the window open incase a head popped round! The view from this side was a quiet road, with lovely apartments opposite and you could see a busy Paris road, so it was nice to actually see Paris this time!
Noisy nights and dangerous driving
Paris is generally a noisy city, it's known for hectic roads and crazy drivers, so throughout the day and night you'll be hearing lots of hoots and sirens, one evening we witnessed a small three car pile up which was quite entertaining (no one was hurt!) but there was lots of french cursing. You'll learn how tocross the roads carefully around the hotel, lots of it is one way, but the first time I ever went it was quite daunting. Just cross when other pedestrians cross, you go when you see a green arrow basically, it's probably not safe to cross any other time as there are lots of fast mopeds that come out of nowhere. You can hear the traffic from your hotel room, so you may get a better nights sleep if you shut the windows, don't forget you'll still be woken up from people in the corridors! It's all very echoey but if you're like me you'll enjoy listening to Paris in the comfort of your bed.

These are general hotel policies, they may vary per room type so look into it more if you choose to stay here.

I don't think this hotel is a rip off at all, you get what you paid for with some added charm. The staff are polite and helpful. When I looked this hotel up on the internet it said it was a one star, but I'm pretty sure it's a 3 star now. If not, it's pretty good for a one star!! I definitely recommend this hotel because of it's fantastic location, they try very hard and keep things clean and presentable. It's a lovely simple hotel, and I haven't ever had any problems or complaints. I hope this review helps, and makes you want to visit this great city! I think this is my biggest review so please let me know if I'm made any silly mistakes, thanks for reading, and I'd appreciate feedback.
