Advantages: Close to the Metro station, 2 stops away from the Bastille, lively surroundings, plenty of local shops Disadvantages: Very basic and functional, small with tatty decor, scary lift

I recently went on a short 3 day school trip to Paris, organised by our school Sixth Form. We were altogether a group of 16 students and 3 teachers. For us students the trip turned out really cheap as we paid only £50 per person (this included the Eurostar return tickets, a 3 day Metro ticket, and hotel accommodation). The real cost would have amounted to £169 but we got subsidies from the government.
We stayed at the 2 star hotel "Les Relaisde Paris Lyon Bastille", situated at less than a 3 minutes walk to the nearest Metro station and 2 stops away from "Le Bastille". The surroundings of the hotel were really quite charming and gave it a local feeling of a typical Parisian...

...Corsica is a beautiful island of the Mediterranean coast of France. The island offers sandy beaches, rugged coasts, mountains, wild countryside, fascinating towns and villages. Package tours have hardly touched the place, but it is a favourite destination for the French, Italians and Germans and it's easy to see why.

Independently run, it is a member of the Relais du Silence hotel association. Important one, this. The slightest noise at night and I'm awake. My husband says I can hear a rabbit fart a quarter of a mile away. A little unkind, a little crude, but you get the idea.
We arrive. It's easy to find, on the outskirts of Le Bugue on the road from Périgueux. Now before I launch into the nitty-gritty I should make it clear that we had a nice time here. I look back on it as a relaxing, enjoyable stay in an interesting location. I'm saying this now because there are going to be criticisms which I'll describe extensively, that being the nature...

The first time I ever visited Paris I stayed at this hotel. I just left it up to my boyfriend and his dad to choose the accommodation as I knew nothing about this city at the time, except that it had the Eiffel Tower!
When we looked it up on the... more
