Remarkable fun on snow - the ski resort that lives up to its name

Advantages: Suitable for all ability levels, great scenery on clear days, good variety of terrain
Disadvantages: 45 minutes travel time each way from town centre to resort, lift tickets fairly expensive

The Remarkables is a ski resort in Queenstown, New Zealand and is named after the mountain range within which it is situated. It is owned by NZSki Ltd who also run the resorts Coronet Peak (also in Queenstown) and Mount Hutt near Christchurch. It is usually open for skiing and snowboarding from mid June until early October depending on snowfall. I spent a winter season in Queenstown in 2005 and thoroughly enjoyed my time there as I ...
...unlimited access to both The Remarkables and Coronet Peak. The current normal price is NZ$1299 but if you buy it a few months before the start of the season it costs just NZ$699 which is fantastic value for money!

'''Other information'''

Equipment rental is available up at the resort but it may be cheaper from one of the many rental shops in the centre of Queenstown, especially if you need it for several days. ... more

Learn the ropes in a remarkable way!

Advantages: great resort for all ski abilities
Disadvantages: You have to climb a snow slope to get to resort, so wear good shoes!

...Spent a week visiting the remarkables resort learning to snowboard whilst in Queenstown. I have skied in Austria and also the Cardrona resort in New Zealand, and I was very impressed by the standard of this resort, as it catered for all abilities and also offers a variety of combination packages for those who aren't visiting on a season pass. The only downsides I remember are that it was pretty scary actually getting up to the resort- we used the ...
...of stops in Queenstown, and although it was quite good value and got us there quick enough, it was quite a hairy experience crawling up the winding icy narrow roads on the edge of the mountains, especially when passing another vehicle! Had a bit of a close call one day when the bus skidded on the ice and the drivers quick thinking and steering saved us from a sticky end! But having said that, I wouldnt want to drive up there in my own vehicle, as ...

A Memorial to a Remarkable Leader

Advantages: A great mix of the public and private woman
Disadvantages: The crowds can be overwhelming

Granddaughter of one of the early leaders of the Indian National Congress; Daugher of independent India's first Prime Minister; Mother of another Prime Minister; Mother-in-law of an election-winning party leader; Grandmother of a young up-and-coming MP of whom much is expected; Indira Gandhi's place in Indian social and political history would have been ensured even without her own remarkable achievement. Indira was the first - and so far only - woman Prime Minister of the world's largest democracy. Her election in 1966 made her only the second woman to serve as president or prime minister in modern times. So much for the idea that India was a backward place - she took power 13 years before the UK got round to letting a woman loose as leader. And she was no fluffy figure-head; she served three successive terms and, after losing ...

A remarkable place

Advantages: Magnificent coral and wildlife
Disadvantages: Avoid other touist craft - especially if you're down stream!

The Great Barrier Reef is a most remarkable place. When I dived over the reef I had a copious amount of wildlife for company - as well as the rubbish and worst from boats moored upstream! The reef is obviously a magnet for tourists and for those who make a living from tourists and it is unfortunate that one of my enduring memories of the reef is attempting to surface through a cloud of toilet refuge from five boats moored further up the current. If you can find a guide who will take you (in safety) away from the usual tourist spots the reef lives up to its reputation as one of the most beautiful areas in the world. The coral - for all the erosion - is still to be marvelled at and the wildlife second to none. ...

Review of Great Barrier Reef (Australia)

● Remarkable Paris ●

Advantages: beautiful sceneries, plenty of stations, good quality hotels, fancy food, great attractions.
Disadvantages: Expensive, The history of France isn't always appreciated.

began in 1163 during the reign of Louis VII. The remarkable paintings, stained windows and lit up candles really enchances you day. ● ● The Avenue des Champs Elysées is the most famous street in Paris. This broad road starts at the Arc de Triomphe and continues straight to the Place de la Concorde. The street is lined with fashionable shops and restaurants and is a popular place for tourists. This section introduces some of the places along or close to this road. ● && lots more....... ● The smell of waffles in the air, the jolly people, the outstanding attractions, the delicious restaurants & cafés, the beautiful scenery and the people you love sitting beside you, gives you enough reasons to go there for your holiday. ● ● I recomend Paris for HONEYMOONS, for people who are interested in ...
