Check in?
Check in is from 2pm, although we arrived at 11.30am and were able to go into our room straight away.
Check out from the room was by 12 noon.
The room?
The room we had was quite spacious and decorated in a light and airy style with flowered bed spreads. Everything in the room was very clean and tidy ... ...luxurious as other Marriott and Renaissance hotels which I have stayed in.
Our room featured two quite spacious double beds as well as a small lunge area that had a coffee table and 2 seater sofa (I'm not too sure if all rooms have these!)
The room had a quite large television with satellite TV (free) and pay for movies (I think there were 6 on offer!)
The room also featured a quite large desk with a good ... more
The hotel:
The hotel looks quite imposing as it is a tall 15 story building in the heart of Manchester City Centre.
As you enter the lobby through revolving doors you immediately get a sense of style and ambience with heavy wood and marble all over the lobby.
The hotel is owned and operated by the Marriott chain of hotels which operates all of the Renaissance branded hotels throughout the world.

The room?
The room we had was quite spacious and decorated in a light and airy style with flowered bed spreads. Everything in the room was very clean and tidy and the room was well kept, although not quite as luxurious as other Marriott and Renaissance hotels which I have stayed in.
Our room featured two quite spacious double beds as well as a small lunge area that had a coffee table and 2 seater sofa (I'm not too sure if all rooms have these!)
The room had a quite large television with satellite TV (free) and pay for movies (I think there were 6 on offer!)
The room also featured a quite large desk with a good desk light as well as air conditioning and a kettle and tea and coffee making facilities (I especially liked the Renaissance branded coffee mugs!) A nice touch was the bathrobe which was new and fluffy as were the towels.
A very nice touch was a morning newspaper delivered outside our door.
The hotel also offers a very good room service menu although we did not try this.
Eating and drinking:
The hotel has a nice looking restaurant called Robbies which is a steak house featuring a wide variety of other dishes as well. We didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner but enjoyed a snack in the bar which was excellent and very reasonably priced. We also enjoyed continental breakfast which was very good with a wide choice of pastries, fruits, drinks and a whole breads.
The bar is themed on Scottish theme and has such features a very wide range of whiskies and Scottish drinks. It is a very comfortable bar with big comfy leather arm chairs. Drinks are quite reasonably priced and comparable for city centre hotels (a glass of wine and beer cost approx. £6 per round).
The price?
I booked via the Marriott website and the cost for a double room per night (room only) was £129.00. If you are not too choosy according to the date you stay there are plenty of good offers to be had and you can also ring the hotel to negotiate a deal but I have always found when staying at Marriott hotels and resorts that the best deals are available online.
Getting there: It's locate dless than five minutes away from Manchester Victoria train station on foot and 15 minutes on foot from Picadilly train station (5 minutes by car). It's also easy to get to by motorway, not far from the M62.
Parking:
Parking is included in the room price in an NCP car park that is located right next door to the hotel and has 24 surveillance cameras. Valet parking is also available at a charge (approx. £4 per day).
Location, location, location!
The best thing about the Manchester Renaissance is it's location. The hotel is located at one end of Deansgate which is the main shopping street in Manchester. The hotel is right in the heart of the city and just two or three minutes on foot from some of the biggest shops in the city including Selfridges, Harvey Nicholls and the House of Fraser store Kendals. Following the bombing in 1996 Manchester city centre has undergone total regeneration and there are all the famous name shops you could ever hope to find. On Deansgate, St Ann's Square and King Street you will find a whole host of designer names such as Hugo Boss, Ted Baker, Karen Millen, DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger. On Market Street and the Arndale Shopping Centre you will find all your favourite high street favourites.
Night time fun?
The hotel is located less than a 5 minute walk from the Manchester Evening News Arena and is within walking distance and you are also about 10 minutes away for the G Mex Centre which houses some great exhibitions If you are interested in football Manchester United's Old Trafford ground is about 3 miles away.
