...The current TownHall Building in the centre of Sheffield is one of only two Grade 1 listed Buildings in Sheffield. Built in 1890 this is the fourth TownHall Building that the City has had.
The first TownHall Building was built in 1637. The second TownHall Building was used between 1700 and 1808, whilst the third Building was used between 1808 and 1897.
The current TownHall Building is located on Pinstone Street right in the centre of the City. This impressive looking piece of Architecture took seven years to build so it did not officially open until the 21st May 1897 when it was opened by Queen Victoria.
It was designed by a London based Architect called E.W Mountford, with an extension designed by F.E.P Edwards completed in 1923.

Advantages: You will be surprised. Disadvantages: You may be disappointed.
..., but belong to different periods, the Gothic one, the Renaissance and the Baroque, the overall effect is homogeneous, though.
I couldn´t sit in the Café for too long, it was hot and there weren´t enough umbrellas, so I went to the Hällisch-Fränkisches Museum of local history. Here I learnt why Hall was such a rich town, its former wealth is obvious in each building. Already 2000 years ago the Celts had found and mined salt in the area, and salt meant money.
As luck would have it I had been in Southern Italy, in Apulia, two weeks before and visited the salt-works there where salt is won from the water of the sea. Ask me something concerning salt, now I have answers to questions which I never even thought of before! The salt industry in Hall came to an end in 1924 when the fact that Hall is out of the way of every major transportation system...

Advantages: Beautiful hotel and great value Disadvantages: Not too near the city centre
...The Renaissance Hotel in Brussels forms part of the Renaissance chain of Hotels which in turn is owned by Marriott. I stayed at this hotel whilst on holiday in Brussels in August 2003 and found the hotel to be really good value in Summer (as all the business people are on holidays so the best time and cheapest time to visit Brussels is this time of year!)
The room:
The hotel bedroom that we had was well furnished and came with two Queen size beds, although room are available with one larger King Size bed. The room had a TV with satellite TV and a few okay English channels including BBC World. It also came with the usual trapping such as hairdryer, in room safe (very useful for passports and money!) as well as an iron and ironing board and trouser press. If you are here on business there is a large desk with ISDN line...
