...I was looking forward to my stay at plush four star Cable Beach Club Resort in Broome, Western Australia. According to their advertising material, I could expect Asian serenity and Colonial Indulgence. It sounded great and friends had recommended it as a very pleasant place to stay.
In total, I spent three nights here. Because it was included in a coach tour package that I'd booked, I didn't make a booking specifically for the hotel itself. However let it be said that the room rates vary. I saw one website (discoverwest.com.au) which was offering rooms from $A155 (incl breakfast) plus a free camel ride, but other quotes elsewhere were much more than this.
The hotel runs a shuttle bus to Broome Airport to greet tired travellers. Or you can get a taxi to the resort ($10).

Cable Beach Backpackers
The main advantage of this hostel is it's convenient access to Cable beach, only being a few minutes walk away. The hostel has a strong sense of community between the backpackers who stay in it, and there was a really good atmosphere whilst I stayed there. Advantages: easy access to & from the beach, lovely memories, great sunsets Disadvantages: the good places seem to get burnt down, not very good beach
...seaside resort where you don’t have to worry about where to
park, except if it’s a bank holiday and the temperatures have soared into the
30’s and there are thousands of people there. Apart from hot days and bank holidays, Sundays seem to be the next busiest days, as this is when bikers seem to rendezvous for pints of beer and chips on the sea front lol.
There are 5 car parks to choose from. They include the following:
· On the cliff top overlooking the sea (the wash)
· On the beachfront outside an amusement arcade and the oasis leisure centre
· (where the market sits on certain days)
· Round the back of the fair (a grassy car park hidden behind the fair)
· In the middle of town opposite a Thomson’s leisure arcade
· There is also a big supermarket, which has a few car parking spaces too
During peak times...
