Drucker's cakes are the best
Review of Drucker's Vienna Patisserie by
Oxenburgh
Advantages: Delicious cakes
Disadvantages: none
...There is no doubt about it: Drucker's gateaus are the tastiest, best quality, I have ever eaten, anywhere, bar none. And I've traveled broadly; had coffee and cakes in Vienna, Milan, Paris, Brussels, Copenhagen, New York, Los Angeles etc. I don't know of any other cafe, restaurant or patisserie where the selection and quality is as high. The great thing is that you can be in almoist any town in central England and Drucker's has one of their traditional Vienese patissseries. The atmosphere is just right; and I particularly liked the faux modern masters, which are painted in the style of, say, Renoir. They take a well known work by the painter, but change the location and subject matter to a cafe, or simlar to portray people relaxing over a coffee and cake.
The service is quick. The prices reasonable....

Picture It!
Review of National Gallery (London) by
REG
Advantages: The best paintings and for all tastes
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...If you like paintings you will want to visit the Natioanl Gallery again and again and again. and probably have. These days most of us have seen reproductions of the main masterpieces and quite likely have a few on the wall at home so why bother. Well, there really is a difference. For starters the actual size of many of the pictures will astound and to actually see the brush strokes and how the artist went about his business will be fascinating.
Sitting down within inches of a Turner, a Rembrandt, a Renoir, a Manet, a Monet and so many other great artists will be something to take home with you and the experience will last a lifetime. Many people take their children possible because they think they should but for most, wait until you are older and wiser and make sure you have the time to be unhurried and reflective.
You will really...

Great Collection in a Wonderful Setting
Review of Musée Rodin by
BennyOnTheLoose
Advantages: Gardens, beautiful sculptures
Disadvantages: Can be crowded in the house
...A wonderful little museum, with some exceptional sculptures. Based in Rodin's former residence, this is a fairly small place but well worth a visit. Of course the classics like The Thinker and The Burghers of Calais are here, along with many other works including some beautiful marble sculptures and the amazing Gates of Hell. The museum also contains works collected by Rodin including paintings by Van Gogh and Renoir,
The Museum has front and back sculpture gardens, which have never been crowded the several times I've visited, and the back garden in particular is a great place to sit and relax for a while. There is also a café, with prices that aren't too unreasonable. One could rush round the museum in under an hour, but it is worth at least a full morning or afternoon to appreciate Rodin's talent at leisure.
The Museum is near...
