Rent a Car in Crete

I visited Crete last month and for the first time I tried to avoid world-wide companies like Herzt, Avis etc as they kept to overcharge me with extra insurances that were NOT included to my original quote. www.justrentals.gr is a local company with new cars and very god service. Their representative named Giorgos was very friendly and gave us all the necessary information in order to start our journey without to worry allthough it was very early hours. I will definitely be using again www.justrentals.gr as I have my own house in Crete and I go there at least five times per year.

Advantages: Lovely scenary, beaches and people
Disadvantages: Big Clubbing scene

...Crete is a beautiful island full of lot of sandy beaches, lovely people and nice food. I would recommend staying in crete itself for 2 weeks as you wouldn't get to do everything that you needed in one week. The best way to get around the island is by car, warning do not buy/rent a motorbike there are sooo many accidents in the island of crete involving motorbikes. This is why the price of renting a motorbike is soo cheap. I recommend you rent a car for around $50 euro a week. I went in the middle of May Time the tempreture was around 29'C which was perfect and there wasnt too many people around. Avoid going in August as it will be swamped with children. The Arkadiou Monastery between Rethymnon and Iraklion is a 5th century holy site that became a symbol of Cretan restistance on November 9th 1866 when hundreds of refugees and revolutionaries chose death over surrender to the Turks and blew themselves to pieces with the gunpowder that was being stored there by the Cretan Revolutionaries. The monastery was rebuilt again and is well worth the visit. The Sammarian Gorge and South To go to Crete without going through the gorge would be a missed opportunity for an incredible experience, providing you are physically strong enough to walk downhill for 15 kilometers. This part of the trip to Crete should be done before renting a car unless you are prepared to walk 15 kilometers back uphill to retrieve it. Advantages: Not to far to fly relativly cheap friendly safe area.
Disadvantages: Hot Lots of hills, Can be too quite or too nosiey

...espacially in the heat but the beaches and local places was worth it! I rented a car out for 1 week and spent other week on foot and taxis etc. Value for money was a big thing i could eat and drink in day for a tenner which was great plus the booze is so cheap! there measures are to die for too!
