Residence Apart Hotel - Artushof, Dresden

Advantages: Excellent location, superb customer service levels and lovely rooms
Disadvantages: No real facilities for the disabled

...Estella Hotel Apartments is based in Limassol in Southern Cyprus where I stayed for 6 nights in late April/early May of 2009 with my cousin. The booking was made via Expedia.co.uk and worked out at approximately £200 for 2 of us sharing a twin apartment (just £100 each basically). Before I confirmed the booking through Expedia I went off and did a bit of research on the hotel to make sure I wasn’t getting something that was cockroach infested. The hotel’s website, although fairly basic in appearance, made the hotel look pleasant enough and I sent an email to the hotel asking what amenities were included in the rooms/apartments. ...The Olivaer Apart Hotel is very reasonably priced and there are some excellent off-peak offers available. It is located just off Olivaer Platz, literally across the road from a bus stop that takes you up the Kurfurstendamm (or you can walk up) and about 5 minutes from the U-bahn at Adenaur. If you are happy getting round the city on public transport this is an excellent hotel. There are a few cafes, bars and restaurants close though not a huge selection (there is no dedicated night life area in West Berlin, you will need to try different areas each night). There is also a supermarket two doors away for water and other snacks. The rooms are quite large but had a small bathroom and are simply furnished with beds, desk, table, chairs and a wardrobe. There is also a satellite TV and mini bar and hairdryers etc can be borrowed... Read review

...This is part of my travel diary on a tour from Contiki. As part of the journey to Prague, we stopped at Dresden for a few hours and below is my experience. Dresden, 124 miles south of Berlin, is the capital city for the state of Saxony. During the Second World War, the entire city centre was wiped out in the 1945 bombing which was master-minded by Winston Churchill. It is also the place where ex-president of Russia Putin stationed during the cold war. Our first stop was the Frauenkirche(the Church of Our Lady). The Dresden Frauenkirche survived the firebombing of Dresden during World War II but was totally burned out and collapsed the next day. It has been reconstructed as a landmark symbol of reconciliation between former warring enemies. It is small in size but I have to say it is one of the most beautiful churches I ever... Read review
