We live in the northern part of Spain like to travel with our kids.
We have a small one year old baby and we definitely are not rich. So we started looking for a family friendly lodging with a central location and a budget price.
Voila. We found this Hostal ResidenciaAustralia, run by Australians, with an awesome family history. They fled to Australia during the Spanish Civil war and came back to Spain after Franco died.
Maria the owner is actually Honorary Mayor president of Baton Rouge LA and John, one of the sons, is a professor at L.S U.
My wife and myself said to each other that this must be a place with character. We were not wrong it was a very interesting experience.
Apart from that the rooms are lovely , clean and the location is perfect right about 100 metres from the Ramblas and right on the bus route from the airpor. Our kids just loved Maria's cat.
We stayed in the apartments section that has been newly renovated ,I would say with 2 or three star hotel amenities. Pretty good and cheap. We paid 75 euros per night for all of us.
If you are a people person, this is an option to choose for your lodging in Barcelona either if your looking for an apartment or a nice bedroom.
