Restaurant Sport Burano Island, Venice

...evident, I just remember SPORT Restaurant being the name on the Receipt.

We usually manage to get an outside table, the weather has always been kind to us.
They have about 10 different Pasta ranging from Spaghetti Pomadoro to a sea food one with clams etc.
All are reasonable price starting at 6 Euros, also you get a large portion, so with bread is quite filling for lunch.
They also do about 20 dirrerent Pizzas ...
...about 12 for the dearest.
Remember you are in Italy so sharing is not looked down on, and extra plate supplied with a smile.

The House Red is 8 Euros a Litre, it does have a slight sparkle to it but still a good drink in the Sunshine.
Large Beers (400ml) are 5 Euros but beer is always dear in Italian places.

Also as you are in Italy and everything is cooked fresh, things come when ready, so do not feel ... more

LUNCH ON BURANO

Each year for the last seven years we have visited Venice, we go for lunch on Burano, a small Island famous for its Lace.

The easiest quickest way is to catch a Vaperreto from Fondamente Nova I am sure it is a Number 12. The advantage of this one is that it calls at Murano, so if you catch an early one you can have a morning with a visit to the Glass Factories before rejoining a number 12 to Burano.

When you land at Burano you will see a couple of Café's near the small Dock, we usually have an Umbra (Small Red Wine at the bar) and toilet break, the Barman a tall Guy is very friendly and Bar prices very cheap, he does have outside tables, but as it is mainly a toilet stop for the ladies, why pay table prices.

You can then meander past the Lace Shops, there's not many and the Ladies are not too pushy.
You then come around the corner to Burano's main street with a small canal down the centre.
Just past the centre there are quite a few eateries, I do not think any of them will rob you blind, but if you want cheap and cheerful then pass buy.
As the street seems to end in a square, turn right and in the far Corner is our place with tables outside, see picture. The name is not evident, I just remember SPORT Restaurant being the name on the Receipt.

They do have the usual Italian deserts and it easy to be tempted.
They also have very pleasant and friendly Waitresses.

You can walk around Burano in about 30 mins (slowly) it has its own version of the Leaning Tower, although this year covered in scaffolding.
Its main claim to fame are the Brightly coloured Houses so make sure you have plenty of film.

Then back on the number 12 to Venice, another year another very pleasant Lunch doing nothing just enjoying the Company and view.
