Restaurant Verdi and Restaurant Einkeher, Linz
Write a review
The core of this house, whose panoramic view sweeps out over and above Linz, was built about a century ago, but because of frequent alterations, very little of it is still... more...recognizable. Many Linzers come here for the view, the fresh high-altitude air, and a cuisine that includes both conservative time-tested folkloric dishes (in Einkeher) and more experimental modern cuisine (in Verdi). Frankly, the main allure that attracts residents as a destination in its own right is Verdi, where rich-looking earth tones and leather-covered chairs create the kind of place where you can hang out for a prolonged evening meal. Menu items reflect the changing seasons and a willingness to experiment on the part of the kitchen staff. The best examples include cannelloni stuffed with a purée of celeriac, served with king prawns and lobster sauce; roasted rack of lamb with gnocchi, thyme, and antipasti-style roasted peppers; and -- in season -- filet of venison with apple-studded cabbage, two different sauces, and bread dumplings. Previous diners have included the captains and coaches of some of Austria's most venerated soccer teams, politicians, and discreetly rich local residents.

Akbars restaurant, York
Review of Akbars Restaurant, York by
sharkel
Advantages: Fabulous night out, excellent food
Disadvantages: only a teeny tiny one - read and find out!!
...On the first night of our recent visit to York we ventured out to find somewhere to eat as the hotel was a tad expensive for us commoners!
When we entered the city walls we asked the first people we met where the best area/restaurant was to eat. Both of them immediately answered Akbars, an Asian restaurant, which luckily was just around the corner on George Hudson Street. They also gave us options for Chinese and Mexican food but both of them were adamant that Akbars was the best.
We walked round to the restaurant and had a look at the menu outside the front door. As I'm a vegetarian I need to ensure that any restaurant I visit is going to have a good selection of meals for me to choose from and not just one or two veggie options. There was a very large amount of meals for me to choose from and we happily went inside...

Wheely Good Restaurant
Review of Bella Italia Restaurant, Cambridge by
uglyboots
Advantages: Unique building, delicious food
Disadvantages: Nothing major
...Bella Italia Cambridge
I should start by saying that there are 3 different Bella Italia restaurants in Cambridge: one at the Grafton Centre - next to the Vue Cinema, one at the Cambridge Leisure Park and one along the backs, near Newnham College called the Watermill.
I have visited all three restaurants, so will give a quick note about the other two before my full review which is on the Watermill Bella Italia. As they are all part of the same chain they share the same menu but the restaurants themselves are slightly different.
Grafton Centre – Possibly the smallest of the three Bella Italia restaurants in Cambridge, it is on the first floor of the Grafton Centre next to Vue cinema, a fast food Italian and a Burger King. In my opinion, Bella Italia’s food is much preferable to the other eateries available on this floor...

Dine at The Turtle Restaurant
Review of La Tortue Restaurant, Honfleur, Normandy, France by
denella
Advantages: Excellent food, service and atmosphere
Disadvantages: No outdoor seating; upstairs toilets
...Before visiting Honfleur, Normandy, for the day I looked at the Ciao France website to see if there were any reviews of restaurants in the town. All I found, however, was a piece of advice that recommended avoiding the restaurants on the waterfront, which it described as 'tourist traps', and seeking out a restaurant in one of the side streets. My 'Rough Guide to France' was too heavy to take along, so I copied out the names and addresses of one or two restaurants that it listed. Unsurprisingly for a fishing port, they all seemed to specialise in seafood.
We spent about an hour and a half wandering around Honfleur and were amazed at the number of restaurants there are; you are certainly spoilt for choice, and if a bucket of mussels floats your boat you are in for a treat. We stopped and looked at one or two menus, including that of La...
