Advantages: Everything fresh and cooked to perfection Disadvantages: Not enough nights on holiday to eat there

Robert found it on one of his saunters whilst I was sat by the pool reading. All he saw was the board on the end of the side street and thought I will go and look. He did and liked what he saw so 11 of went and ... ...we where staying in Cabanas.
All the staff spoke wonderful English and put our attempts at Portuguese to shame.
The food was excellent and we went back again and again.
The cover is wonderful brown and white bread and butter, tuna pate, sardine pate, olives and between the 11 they placed 4 plates of each.

Robert found it on one of his saunters whilst I was sat by the pool reading. All he saw was the board on the end of the side street and thought I will go and look. He did and liked what he saw so 11 of went and had dinner there 3 nights out of the 7 that we where staying in Cabanas.

Our order was as follows:
5 Beef stroganoff @ 11-00 euro each 2 children's potions of sausage and chips @ 4-50 euro each 1 grilled sole @ 17-50 euro 1 duck breast @ 15-50 euro 1 grilled lamb kebab, on the skewer @ 9-50 euro 1 small grilled fish @ 8-50 euro 3 bottles of wine @ 9-50 euro each 3 coca cola @ 2-00 euro each 1 water @ 1-20 euro 1 Caneca, (pint of beer) @ 3-00 euro
Total for the meal 151-70 euro.
The Stoganoff was very good, served with rice, and chips if you wanted them. The rice had peppers mixed in with it and we had a second plate of rice to soak up the sauce from the Stoganoff, too good to leave.
The two children ate all their meal and enjoyed every mouthful. What we did like was that their plates came out first so that they where able to eat and enjoy at their own pace.
The grilled sole just fell off the bone, and was served with boiled potatoes and fresh veg. Our grandson was very impressed with the bones, left in tact on granddad's plate.
The duck breast was in honey and sliced, all I can say is that the duck must have been very big, as the breast was cut into 10 slices and very substantial. This was served with a choice of fresh vegetables, rice or chips.
Grilled lamb kebab, was lamb wrapped in bacon and cooked on the skewer to you choice, with a side dish of your choice, salad and chips.
The small grilled fish again was just done to perfection served with chips and salad.
On our first night we had had Steak on the Stone. This you have to try, and seeing the size of the portion, takes some eating.
It is served to you at your table where the waitress brings you a bib to put on, the steak is then brought in on a sizzling hot piece of marble stone, with three accompanying dishes of butter, garlic mayo and mustard for you to put on your steak and you cook it on the stone to your choice. When you have cooked and eaten you steak. PLEASE remember that the stone is still very, very hot. The cost of the steak on the stone was 13-50 euro.
Our second visit to the restaurant was the following night as in conversation Uncle Dougie had said that he liked grilled octopus. We asked if they served this and they said "When for? As my husband will go fishing tomorrow for one for you." Uncle Dougie said that will be fine so we booked in again. Uncle Dougie was not disappointed, the Octopus filled his dinner plate, left whole and grilled it cost 8 euro……………..That night we also had grilled sirloin steak with 3 pepper sauce and that again was delicious.
Also on the menu that Rob had was Octopus rice, which came in a covered tureen and looked like risotto with octopus, Robert ate every last bit and enjoyed it.
We all would recommend this very highly as a place to visit if going to the Algarve along by Tavira or Cabanas area.
The restaurant will be open throughout the year as this is their first year, and all through the winter. We are staying in Tavira in January and asked if they will be open, and pleased to say they are. As a footnote the taxi fare from Tavira to Cabanas is 7euro.
