Advantages: Very convenient when shopping Disadvantages: Not exactly a scenic location but that is not why its there.
I ate lunch here with my wife and two friends in October 07 We were there because we were shopping at El Corte Ingles, which beyond doubt is the superior supermarket chain in Spain.
The service was quick, the waiter was attentive and the food was as good and comprehensive as the menu suggested. The menu itself consisted of typical Spanish fare, tenera (Calf) beef, various cuts of pork,a wide selection of fish, soups and salads, nothing ... ...remember was the overall high quality of the food that was served up to me and my companions.
Do you ever get that feeling when the food arrives at the table and your mind says either "wow, I think I'm really going to enjoy this," or "Oh no, I wish I'd chosen to eat someowhere else."
Well they had the wow factor but not over the top. I recall my bass was just too delicious. I wouldn't have gone there ... more

The service was quick, the waiter was attentive and the food was as good and comprehensive as the menu suggested. The menu itself consisted of typical Spanish fare, tenera (Calf) beef, various cuts of pork,a wide selection of fish, soups and salads, nothing that I remember in great detail, but what I do remember was the overall high quality of the food that was served up to me and my companions.
Do you ever get that feeling when the food arrives at the table and your mind says either "wow, I think I'm really going to enjoy this," or "Oh no, I wish I'd chosen to eat someowhere else."
Well they had the wow factor but not over the top. I recall my bass was just too delicious. I wouldn't have gone there if we hadn't been on a shopping trip, but I would definitely go back to any Corte Ingles restaurant for the same reason, convenience, even though it was competitively priced (Much cheaper than England of course)
However Malaga has a surfeit of good eating places and I would definitely not go there specifically to eat at night with so many more attractive venues available and all at very fair prices.
The Spanish demand a high standard for their food and you get it here. This certainly is way above what you would get in any British supermarket "caff" and a welcome and relaxing break from shopping, even if you are in El Corte Ingles.
By the way most shops in Spain have their sales in January and February and what you can save here would more than pay for your meal.
Also for those who didn't know, El Corte Ingles means "The English Cut" when the founders opened up their first store decades ago - it implied a high standard, although I am not sure if that still holds true today with most high street goods being manufactured in sweat shops thousands of miles away.

Manufacturer's product description
Although it originated to lure shoppers into Málaga's best department store, this restaurant quickly developed a clientele of its own, and today enjoys a stream of steady customers who come here to eat, not just to shop. On the sixth floor of El Corte Inglés, it offers an array of salads, hot and cold meats, and fish. The setting is dignified and comfortable, and the staff well trained. You might try green peppers stuffed with shellfish, filet of pork in pepper-cream sauce, or sirloin steak with spices. There's a long wine list.
