This place has changed so little you might think one of Franco's soldiers is about to stroll into this time capsule. This was a humble wine bar when it opened in 1936 near the Old City. The original wine-and-tapas bar is still going strong, but the food has improved immeasurably. Today the original owner's sons (Juan José and Miguel Pérez Mejías) offer a cornucopia of succulent food, including fresh fish laid out in the dining room on the sun-bleached planks of an antique fishing boat. Many menu items are derived from locally inspired recipes. The specialties include a "festival of canapés," slices of cured ham served with fresh melon, shellfish soup with mussels, Alicante stew, pigs' trotters, a savory filet of beef seasoned with garlic, and a full gamut of grilled hake, sea bass, and shellfish.
Advantages: Very convenient when shopping Disadvantages: Not exactly a scenic location but that is not why its there.
...I ate lunch here with my wife and two friends in October 07 We were there because we were shopping at El Corte Ingles, which beyond doubt is the superior supermarket chain in Spain.
The service was quick, the waiter was attentive and the food was as good and comprehensive as the menu suggested. The menu itself consisted of typical Spanish fare, tenera (Calf) beef, various cuts of pork,a wide selection of fish, soups and salads, nothing that I remember in great detail, but what I do remember was the overall high quality of the food that was served up to me and my companions.
Do you ever get that feeling when the food arrives at the table and your mind says either "wow, I think I'm really going to enjoy this," or "Oh no, I wish I'd chosen to eat someowhere else."
Well they had the wow factor but not over the top. I recall my bass...

Alicante at Night:
•••••••••••••••••
Alicante is defintely a nocturnal city , a bit like me I guess ....... Its mild inviting climate is one of the reasons why Alicante City is buzzing at nights and more so in the summer months. There are many places to drink , eat & party , all of which continue into the early hours of the morning. There is an area of Alicante called " El Barrio" , it is the old part of the city and here you will find lots of cafes & taverns , each with its own unique style & personality ..... A variety of venues also offer live music such as salsa , sevillanas , jazz etc.......
The new part of town which is still...

Advantages: charming hotel, good customer service Disadvantages: perhaps too small fitness club
...I have decided to talk about this wonderful hotel for many reasons. For you to know the best places in my country to visit,( I'm afraid this is not a very english sentence, suggestions welcome ) and for the staff of this cute hotel because they make me feel at home when I'm there.
LOCATION
the main reason to choose this hotel, is the location: in Costa Blanca, Alicante, there's a village called Jávea, between Cabo de la Nao and Cabo de San Antonio, protected from the north winds by a hill called "El Montgó". It lays In a coast full of nice coves ( we called them "calas") rocky and clear beaches , and orange trees with its azahar blossoms, that spreads their sweet smell during the flowering period. This specific smell makes the sorrounding areas a charming place to stay for the easter holidays.
The hotel is located...

My wife and I have just spent a week at the Castilla and have returned home very disappointed with the hotel itself and the concrete jungle in which it resides. To start with the pluses: The hotel is spotlessly clean - though we did find in our room a... more
