Shall we take a trip...

Advantages: Cheap, Cheerful, Not Cheesy.
Disadvantages: If you don't like Indie music, don't go.

..down memory lane. Ah yes 5th avenue, a place I have frequented many times and have had many a good laugh. Trying to write a review on clubs like this can be hard, especially as sometimes good nights have been had in there for the simple reason that I have been in there with about 10, or so, like-minded people. (By like-minded, I mean people who have a broad taste in indeie music, like to drink cheap booze, and plumb the depths of humiliation in ...
...on what night you go, 5th avenue can be spectacularly cheap. The cheapest night is Thursday, where the most expensive drink is £1, and most bottles are 50p. This makes Thursday the most popular and lockouts by 12pm are common. Friday is bit more expensive, with the cheapest drinks being £1. Saturday is the most expensive night, understandably really, but the prices still compare favourably with most other places in Manchester. Finally there is "Monday ...

Cheap Drinks, Great Tunes

Advantages: good music, cheap drinks, fun nights out
Disadvantages: -

...people recommending this club called 5th Avenue I had to give it a try as I needed a good night out. 5th Avenue is a club which has been around for a while but still has a reputation of being a great night out and having the cheapest drinks in town and of course it is mainly known for being one of the best indie clubs around and since my preferred musical taste is indie this sounded like heaven for me. I first went here on a Saturday night but the ...
...other than that it seemed to pass quick and moved along quite well. I like how security are always watching for people skipping the queue here because I can’t stand waiting for a while to see people pushing in but luckily this isn’t really an issue here. So the cost to get in before 11 is £2 on a Saturday with a flyer or NUS card and £3 after 11pm with the NUS or a flyer which to me isn’t really expensive at all compared to what some clubs charge. ...

More students than a lecture!

Advantages: cheap throughout the week, good music, busy but not too busy, foam parties, friendly staff
Disadvantages: glass bottles on floor, expensive at weekend, samey music if go too often

5th Avenue-THE no1 indie experience (5th/5th ave as known by locals) not what it says on the tin 5th avenue has a different price range and supposedly music depending on the dsay which you go. Monday and Wednesday are the cheapest nights whereas it gets expectedly more expensive at weekends but the music is basically the ame songs played everynight, I managed to go for 3 night in a row in one week and by the 3rd I never wanted to hear some of the ...
...from 5th avenue and have never heard of them in society. ---Monday Madness--- Probably one of the best 5th Ave nights, 2 free drinks upon entry before 10:30 which usualy consist of 2 vouchers, 1 for an alcopop and 1 for a beer so you usually see the girls and the lads swapping beer for alcopop tickets. i myself have been given a few free alcopops/vouchers by lads just because they don't drink them, sometimes they have themes monday madness nights ...

best indie club in manchester

Advantages: cheap, great music
Disadvantages: a bit dull decor

5th Avenue has gained a reputation as one of the most popular student clubs in Manchester, and with good reason, the drinks are cheap, the tunes are good (and very loud) and the dresscode is relaxed. Result - the club gets packed and the atmosphere is great. The club is quite large, it is basement level, with an upstairs bar, and balcony for viewing the dancefloor antics. The dancefloor itself is a little on the small side, but as there are very ...
...and is only £1) 5th avenue is an excellent alternative to 'townie' clubs such as infinity and picadilly 21's. The music is more indie, cheesy 80's and 60's/70's music like the Beatles, Blondie etc, and a few dance tunes. One word of warning though, 5th ave regulars have a joke that the DJ, Ade, has only one tape as the songs he plays are usually the same on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. His usual mix is something like 2 stone roses ...

mancs best alternative experience

Advantages: cheap beer, awesome music, great nostalgic atmosphere
Disadvantages: quite dark and dingy, but hey, that's what indie clubs are meant to be like!

...us to stay. 5th avenue continues to proviide many people with a quality night out., providing a wide array of music to cater for most 'alternative' tastes. located close to town, 5 mins walk from oxford road, where the buses run 24 hours, the location is good. It is down the road from canal street where the gay community socialise, but you won't find many gays here! 5th ave is legend amongst students and weds has always been student night where ...
...people do not dance in 5th ave, they just hold their bottle and sort of move from side to side (Think liam gallacher). Blatantly everyone is having an amazing time, which is why the atmosphere is so great. As for the music on a weds night, it is a variety of music, oasis, stone roses, james, phonics, nikelback, the smiths, nirvana, rage. Usually they play student anthems such as 'billy jean' and 'build me up buttercup' and 'set you free' by n trance. ...

5th Avenue Baybee

Advantages: Cheap Drinks, Great Music
Disadvantages: A Little Hot,

5th Ave is a great place for a cheap great night out. The music ranges from Indie, Nu Metal, Brittish Pop, Trance, Rock, 70's & 80's, including Razorlight, Bloc Party, Faithless, Pulp, Rage Against The Machine, The Killers, Hot Hot Heat, Blur & Reef. The drinks range from 80p - £2 which cannot be argued with! You can get drunk for £10, or if you are a lightweight, £4 with drinks like Castlemaine, Fosters, all the spirits, alcopops, Carlsberg, Becks ...
...Most of the people in 5th Ave are great, you can talk to most people as they are all easy going & plesant, unless they are very drunk, where they will be useless & you will be having a conversation by yourself!! I went to 5th Ave last Saturday, & was kicked out at 3 o clock {when it closes, not because I am bad!} The time went so quickly, talking to some new people, dancing & singing. It is a really good night out if your into the music & into cheap ...

The only place to be on a Thursday night!

Advantages: Cheap drinks, top music, great night out
Disadvantages: Sometimes can't get in if it's too busy

I've been going to 5th ave for 8 years now and it's still great. Thusday nights are the best at 70p for a bottle of Carling and pretty much everything else £1 you really can't complain. If your not a student admission tends to be a bit cheaper if you've got a flyer. These are pretty easy to find if you go to the Garrett (across the road) or Overdraught (above the club). The music inside the club is indie/ alternative so for all you people that are ...
...there. Getting a taxi outside at 2 o'clock can be a bit of a nightmare so we tend to leave 10 minutes before kick out time. The place does get packed but if you get ther at 10.30ish you can establish your own little area before everyone else gets in. Enjoy! ...

What a dump

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: The fact that the place exists

...when I eventually went to 5th Av to find it played the most turgid, depressing rubbish ever. I felt like slitting my wrists after half an hour. There was no choice for drinks, and the ones that were on offer were crap. The staff were rude and useless and the doormen offensive. Never in my life will I ever return to this shithole. Stay away! Apparently my review is too short, but to be honest, I could not think of anything else to say. It really is ...
