I am english but have moved to Aarhus, where the following info is based on my own observations and people who have come to visit either myself or my expat friends. Aarhus is located on mainland Denmark (Jutland) just under the bit that looks like a nose (yes, denmark looks a bit like a face). Aarhus has an international airport in the same way that Bristol does - it isnt big or clever, and it's located a long way from town. There is, however, a transfer bus that takes you from the airport to the railway station downtown. The bus leaves about 15 minutes after the arrival of all flights, and ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to get to from UK, cheaper and less touristic than Copenhagen

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive to use public transport to get to other cities

History: Aarhus is known as the oldest big city in Scandanavia, it's central location giving it trading possibilities in the old times with Germany, the Baltics and the nearby Danish islands to Jutland. Aarhus today: Whilst Copenhagen is the ... more

Advantages Advantages Great range of museums

Disadvantages Disadvantages beer is more expensive than UK

We went to Aarhus in June to meet some friends and it was great. The city itself has plenty of shops and cafes along with bars and restaurants. The setup for tourists is much better than any place in England of the same size. There are bikes you can rent for the day on a coin system like supermarket trolleys, lots of buses and passes to make entrance to the attractions cheaper/free. The museums are excellent. The Moesgard just out of town has the 2000 year old Bogman which was amazing and quite interesting with the scientific side of the exhibition. There is also a Viking village there worth a ... more

I moved to denmark last year, i felt a bit unsure moving to a country with a differnt culture and language to go with it, however right from the start i found that the danish people are extramly helpful and accomodating people, and with most of all danes speaking good english the comunicating ad getting around is never a problem (however thy really like it if yo try to learn there language, even if it is only a few words, with the worst pronounciation they are really receptive if you use dannish towards them). I move to a City called Aarhus, it is denmarks 2nd biggest city behind the capital ... more
