    Advantages Advantages Plenty of destinations

Disadvantages Disadvantages 7 miles from Aberdeen

Before I start, here’s a quick summary of what the opinion covers, to save you time if you’re looking for something specific. A bit about the airport website. Information on the location of the airport and how to get from/to it. A tour of the airport and heliport, and a look at their good and bad points. Contact details for the airport, the airlines and the car rental firms. Contact details and information on the Hotels. Just as a bit of background, I use Aberdeen Airport regularly, this year has been quieter than normal, but I’ve passed through the airport 6 times and the heliport twice. Some ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small

Disadvantages Disadvantages Size of planes limit where you can go to

Aberdeen Airport like may other in the United Kingdom was a RAF base during World War II under the name of RAF Dyce where fighter squadrons were based. Today the airport has two Heliports serving the offshore oil industry in the North Sea which is the busiest in the world in terms of passenger numbers. Due to the length of the runways most of aircraft using Aberdeen still have props as jets need bigger runways. Saying that KLM, AirUK, BA and SAS are among the airlines using the airport. Also the airport close at 10:30PM every night which means late flight are diverted to Edinburgh then bused ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, easy to get around

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not much to keep you occupied while waiting around!

These are purely for the passenger airport terminal and do not cover the heliport (which I believe is equally easy!) You walk through the main entrance (OK, the only entrance) to the passenger terminal and are confronted by Check-in desks (probably about 15 of them) and sales desks (only a few) on your right hand side. On the left hand side you'll find the baggage carousel for arrivals (yes, it is in the main hall...more on that later!) ... more

    Advantages Advantages small but cute

Disadvantages Disadvantages it is not a great airport

If you can get a flight to/from Aberdeen airport, then it does the job. It's small, but there's nowhere to get lost, so you're not going to go to the wrong place. There's the usual overpriced John Menzies (or whatever company has taken it over today), a required overpriced Scottish souvenir shop and two overpriced eateries. The staff are helpful and friendly. If you're travelling to or from Aberdeen, I suggest you find the cheapest flight to london, then take an easyjet flight from luton to aberdeen - regular, and dirt cheap. There's a city bus which runs every half hour from Aberdeen to the ... more
