Advantages: Value, good business class, some nice people Disadvantages: Sheremetyevo Terminal One, some unhelpful staff
...years out of date?
The Soviet Aeroflot of the seventies and eighties was infamous for poor service, reliability, people, which may or may not have been deserved. However, we are now in a new decade, a new century; the Soviet Union has not existed for twelve years and Aeroflot has had the same time to update itself, progress, move on.
Unfortunately people's preconceptions are slower to move on. I've seen "reviews" about Aeroflot which lecture ...

Advantages: Very good value fares. The aircraft on the Lon-Moscow route are fine Disadvantages: I might worry a little about some of their older aircraft. Punctuality was very poor.
Aeroflot is the airline that everyone really loves to hate. I like them. I ought to have a badge! It's a huge shame, really. Yes - they have their downsides, but our experience turned out OK! Take an open mind and you'll be fine. Think: "It's just a mode of transport". Fly in the face of criticism!
We flew from London Heathrow to Moscow Sheremetyevo and back last year. The outward flight was on an Airbus A310 and the return flight was on a very ...

Advantages: Cheap, but not really cheap enough. Disadvantages: No attempt to help you enjoy the flight.
...would be to steal an Aeroflot cushion if you’re given one for your stopover and put it back when you get on the next flight.
We flew through a storm on the way back and experienced heavy turbulence. At times we just dropped like a stone. I have never been frightened while flying before but I have to admit I was. The Spanish girls behind us started screaming and the shuddering of the rather old Ilyushin Jet did not help. I will never forgive ...

I flew Aeroflot last week from London to Shanghai, via Moscow.
Although this was a 5-day business trip, my colleague and I were booked on Aeroflot Economy for the sake of saving £300 per ticket.
We weren't particularly pleased to learn that our trip to Shanghai would be 19 hours long (when we could have flown direct and arrived in 13 hours) but we tried really hard to stay positive and open-minded. 90% of people cringed when we mentioned Aeroflot, ...

...with Aeroflot.
The flight with Aeroflot was an adventure and which isn't suitable for people with a heart complaint.
At the airport Scheremetjewor Dwa in Moscow we had to walk to our plane, because they had not enough busses for all passengers. We fairly often had crossways traffic of busses, suitcase freight cars and other vehicles, too.
A Russian said, that last year only 8 people were run over by busses and there would be much more dangerous ...

Advantages: cheap, uses new planes, many destinations can be reached worldwide Disadvantages: still some old planes in use
...expensive, so I fly with Aeroflot all the time. No, I´m not tired of living...actually I´m very satisfied with the company.
I flew the first time to Russia in 1994. It was one of my first flights. To be honest, I felt a bit nervous when I entered the plane. It looked just like that what makes us remember the Soviet times. Not too bad, but everything else than modern.
Nevertheless the flight to St. Petersburg was peaceful and quiet....without ...

...Soviet Union territory.
Enough of history.
Today's Aeroflot is still biggest Russian Airline, which operates fleet of new, modern planes both on their internal and international flights.
Within Russia they still use older Russian build planes on some routes but those are well kept and they are getting replaced by new ones.
They offer very competetive fares and most of their fares ( even cheapest ones) can be changed. Different fees do ...

Advantages: Cheap, could get tickets Disadvantages: poor service and facilities
...‘flying history’, I have flown Aeroflot for the first time. We chose this Airline as seats were available and price was low (£365) compared to BA (£570) for the same sector. For a family of four, this meant quite a bit of saving and we were quite happy to get a good deal. The ground staffs at London Heathrow (LHR) were very sharp spoken. One lady with an oversized hand baggage was treated very roughly. I learnt after the trip though that what they ...

Areoflot were atleast £100 cheaper than any other airline when I travelled to Vietnam via Moscow. For one journey I can stand being in cramped conditions for a few hours but I didn't count on the delays.
On arriving in Moscow I expected to wait for a couple of hours before getting the connecting flight to Vietnam. After getting into the airport we were told to make our way to gate 21 where we would be taken to a hotel. We all assumed that this ...

Advantages: Cheap if you just want to be transported and you dont need your luggage Disadvantages: not very friendly, luggage always late, badly organized, food is very poor
I went from Munich to Shanghai via Moscow, 590 Euro.
First it took half an hour to print out my ticket, just because one flight number changed. Fortunately I was early enough at the airport.
The service was so so, lets say ok, but the food was rellay shit. Apart from that we got the same food on both flights!
Then my luggage didnt arrive, like the one several other people who were on transit. My friend here told me, that the luggage was most ...

Advantages: Inexpensive; adequately reliable. Disadvantages: Perceived as being a poor airline.
I flew aboard Aeroflot in August 2000 from London (Heathrow) to Delhi via Moscow, primarily because of their excellent flight times and their highly attractive airfare (at least £100 less than my next best quote).
The service from London to Moscow was equal in standard to that of Western airlines: the aircraft was comparatively modern (Airbus A310); the interior was clean and tidy; the food was satisfactory; and the attendants were cheerfully helpful.
The ...

Quick review of Aeroflot Review ofAeroflotby

Lost son's luggage, never found, waited the time for them to find it and when they cound;nt sent in claim. They sent letter telling me that after 21 days time it was too late to file. Medical breathing apparatus and life necessary medicines in luggage. Wound up in hospital for most of the time. When he was ready and able to leave, they would not even give him any special consideration in seating. We did exactly what was required of us and they did everything wrong. Of course no compensation for lost luggage or $4300 in hospital expenses incurred directly due to their incompentence. This is not a customer service issue, it's criminal.

I have flow aeroflot twice now and can safely say that the service is getting better all the time ... for us , it worked out we could fly business class with Aeroflot to the Seychelles for cheaper than Flying direct with BA or Air France . As the aircraft they are now flying with on the international routes are now all Boeing 737 / Airbuses the standard of accomadation has greatly improved . Also , due to the fact that they have only been only selling ...

Advantages: Good value, good food, puntual Disadvantages: Surly service, tatty interiors
I flew with Aeroflot to Tokyo via Moscow - they were about £200 cheaper than the next cheapest airline. I feared the worst to be honest, but in reality they weren't that bad at all. The plane was modern (although the interior was a bit tatty), the food was as good as I've had on any flight (W. European, Russian or Japanese depending on the sector). The flights were puntual, fairly comfortable even in economy (I'm 180cm tall) and although I hate flying ...
