Advantages Advantages decent service, good flight itinerary

Disadvantages Disadvantages pervading sense of incompetence, baggage disasters

I've just got back from an exhausting but cracking holiday to the States, and strange as it may seem to write an op straight away, I find myself in that jet-lagged, zombified state in which little else is possible, and I want to write about my treatment at the hands of Air Canada before I forget the fine, scintillating details... We chose Air Canada for the following reasons: - A stop-over was needed to secure the deal we wanted, and Toronto is a good place to break the flying monotony. - Aside from some random Canadian marines, Canada has no direct military presence or involvement in Iraq ... more

I have recently used this airline for the first time, firstly flying from London Heathrow to Vancouver in May 2007, and returning to London three weeks later from Calgary. We were travelling as a party of four, planning to enjoy a touring holiday of the North West U.S. and the Canadian Rockies. Planning for the trip started around eight months prior to departure, although we did not actually book the flights until three months in advance. Initially we searched for the most inexpensive flight options on a number of the most popular travel sites. As we did a little more research and it became ... more

Air Canada On my recent trip to Toronto from Manchester (sse my review of the Hilton Toronto!), I decided to fly using the direct service form Manchester to Toronto. This direct route operates daily departing Manchester at 11.35 and arriving mid-afternoon. It departs Toronto for the return flight at 10pm arriving back in Manchester mid-morning. During the summer (and peak tourist) months, the airline adjusts its two class system from Business and Economy and Premium Economy and Economy. With basic economy flights starting at around £350.00 & taxes, we opted for the premium economy flights at a ... more

I had the misfortune to fly with Air Canada upon leaving Australia, on my way to Hawaii. Misfortune might be too harsh a word but I will let you decide once you have heard about my 10 hour trip with them. [Check-in] We arrived at Sydney airport with plenty of time to check in, at least 3 hours. We departed from Melbourne on a Qantas flight at around 6 am, arriving at 7 am, thus 3 hours for a 10.30 am departure should have been more than sufficient. Because we have departed from Melbourne, our luggage have been checked all the way through to Hawaii. There were a lot of passengers in similar ... more

I thought it was time I visited family in Toronto, those of you who have read my previous 'op' will know that I purchased my ticket quite cheaply with expedia. This went well and my itinery was supposed to be as follows: Mon 5th March BD585 MAN - LHR arrive 10.15am AC865 LHR - YUL arrive 15.50pm (local time) AC149 YUL - YYZ arrive 18.17pm (local time) Yes I know 3 changes of aircraft but what did I expect for a cheapie flight of £250 but as both airlines are members of Star Alliance which basically means that I can check-in straight through to final destinantion...mmmmm Anyway on with the show ... more

Advantages Advantages Daytime flight from Toronto to London

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Everything else

Fair warning. I am about to rubbish my national airline. Avert your eyes if you are of a fragile disposition. Tales of flying on AC are not for the faint of heart! I will start with the one positive thing about the airline, and it's positive enough enough to earn them one star, and to over-ride my general "wouldn't recommend" opinion as long as you are willing to suffer all the other disadvantages. Air Canada offers a daytime flight from Toronto to London, leaving at 9.am. and landing at 9p.m. It's great because you don't lose a night's sleep, and can go straight to bed when you arrive, and be ... more

I’ve had a total of 4 flights with Air Canada now and each one has been fantastic. Both return flights were from UK to Toronto are about 8 hours in total. I have flown with Air Canada from both London Gatwick and Manchester Airport, arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport. Booking and Price The first time I booked flights to Toronto, I had no real idea about what airlines are the best and who had good reputations. I booked my flights through a local travel agent and they worked quite hard to find me the best prices, Air Canada it turns out, was not as expensive as I had expected. I ... more

Introduction In the past six years, I have flown extensively on many different airlines. There is rarely a time where I am so unhappy with one, that I would spend time to review it. Air Canada is definitely one airline I would never fly with again. Comfort Firstly, let us start with my departure to Toronto, from Edinburgh, connecting through Frankfurt. Once on my long-haul flight lasting over 8 hours, I sat down in my small economy class seat. Provided was a blanket, and magazines. How considerate. After watching rude flight crew dart up and down the aircraft, we were soon preparing for take ... more

We choose to fly Air Canada (Aug 2007) from Toronto to LA as it was the national airline. Even though ticket prices were considerably higher than anticipated we choose Air Canada secure in the knowledge that the flight was an international flight and the service, seating etc was as high a standard as any national airline. We were horrified to discover that their ageing aircraft A319 was configured for sardines and way below international standards. You should have seen the size and weight of carry-on baggage by passengers on our full flight. The overhead lockers were bulging at the seams. Were ... more
