Blame (Air) Canada
Review of Air Canada - ACA by
ruth_cole
Advantages: decent service, good flight itinerary
Disadvantages: pervading sense of incompetence, baggage disasters
...treatment at the hands of Air Canada before I forget the fine, scintillating details...
We chose Air Canada for the following reasons:
- A stop-over was needed to secure the deal we wanted, and Toronto is a good place to break the flying monotony.
- Aside from some random Canadian marines, Canada has no direct military presence or involvement in Iraq which minimises the threat of danger and/or disruption and cancellation caused by terrorist ...

Air Canada? Fine by me!
Review of Air Canada - ACA by
cwestern
Advantages: Worked as advertised
Disadvantages: Nothing worth talking of
...search for flights, British Airways, Air Canada and American Airlines stood out as being the most keenly priced. As the plans became more developed, American dropped out of the reckoning when both flights were routed through Canada. British Airways did compete well with regard to frequency of flights, but lost out on price. So Air Canada it was then.
I had read quite a few reviews on Ciao, Tripadvisor and other such sites before booking in order ...

A few misses, mainly hits with Air Canada
Review of Air Canada - ACA by
nickjj78
Advantages: Good food, timely, good service
Disadvantages: Not as many perks as promised!
Air Canada
On my recent trip to Toronto from Manchester (sse my review of the Hilton Toronto!), I decided to fly using the direct service form Manchester to Toronto. This direct route operates daily departing Manchester at 11.35 and arriving mid-afternoon. It departs Toronto for the return flight at 10pm arriving back in Manchester mid-morning.
During the summer (and peak tourist) months, the airline adjusts its two class system from Business ...

There is a reason why its in the star alliance
Review of Air Canada - ACA by
petitesquirt
Advantages: They did not crash
Disadvantages: Did not care about safety of passengers
...the misfortune to fly with Air Canada upon leaving Australia, on my way to Hawaii. Misfortune might be too harsh a word but I will let you decide once you have heard about my 10 hour trip with them.
[Check-in]
We arrived at Sydney airport with plenty of time to check in, at least 3 hours. We departed from Melbourne on a Qantas flight at around 6 am, arriving at 7 am, thus 3 hours for a 10.30 am departure should have been more than sufficient. ...

Advantages: Pleasant Cabin Crew, Star Alliance Member
Disadvantages: Unhelpful Ground Staff, Poor Ground Staff
...airlines! One major drawback with Air Canada is that because French is Canada's second language everything spoken over the tannoy is said 1st in english and repeated in french.
Once airbourne dinner was served, the usual Chicken or Salmon followed by cake etc.. A complimentary bar was then served, followed by the normal in-flight movie however the movie screens that came down from the over head lockers were a bit awkward to see if seated in an odd ...

Air Can't-ada
Review of Air Canada - ACA by
Quakerman
Advantages: Daytime flight from Toronto to London
Disadvantages: Everything else
...suffer all the other disadvantages. Air Canada offers a daytime flight from Toronto to London, leaving at 9.am. and landing at 9p.m. It's great because you don't lose a night's sleep, and can go straight to bed when you arrive, and be ready for anything the next day. I only ever fly Air Canada to take advantage of this.
I really don't know where to start with the downside. Remember, this is coming from a Canadian, so take any comments I make in ...

Awful Airline
Review of Air Canada - ACA by
skeet263
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Lost luggage, uncomfortable, rude staff
...spend time to review it. Air Canada is definitely one airline I would never fly with again.
Comfort
Firstly, let us start with my departure to Toronto, from Edinburgh, connecting through Frankfurt. Once on my long-haul flight lasting over 8 hours, I sat down in my small economy class seat. Provided was a blanket, and magazines. How considerate. After watching rude flight crew dart up and down the aircraft, we were soon preparing for take-off.
The ...

Full service? I Think not!
Review of Air Canada - ACA by
CanadianTraveller
Advantages: Very few
Disadvantages: Not full service
We choose to fly Air Canada (Aug 2007) from Toronto to LA as it was the national airline. Even though ticket prices were considerably higher than anticipated we choose Air Canada secure in the knowledge that the flight was an international flight and the service, seating etc was as high a standard as any national airline.
We were horrified to discover that their ageing aircraft A319 was configured for sardines and way below international standards. ...

Air Canada, the air line that does more
Review of Air Canada - ACA by

Advantages: Brilliant service, free wine on trans-atlantic
Disadvantages: Transfering of baggage is a task for them
...flown on 6 flights with Air Canada now, 4 being internal Toronto terminal 1 to Winnipeg flights and 2 being Trans-Atlantic between Heathrow terminal 3 and Toronto terminal 1. All these flights I have been on are fantastic in thier level of service and reliability of service in acording to the flights and checking themselves.
The first thing I noticed (as i have a taste for wine on journeys) the trans-atlantic flights have free wine for standard ...

Advantages: Great airline
Disadvantages: none
...entered service in 1999 and Air Canada was the first North American operator to use the planes. They are medium range airliners which you are most likely to travel back and forth from the UK on. Carrying a total of 272 passengers in comfort during the winter and 292 in the summer. (holiday traffic)

These are long range airliners that you would fly transcontinental on to either the Pacific basin or similarly distant destinations. ...

Pretty good service
Review of Air Canada - ACA by
toneboy7
Advantages: Very nice, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Flights through dreaded Toronto airport
I recently flew with Air Canada from Glasgow to Atlanta (via Toronto), and would summarise the good and bad points of Air Canada as follows.
On the good side the staff are friendly, the seats comfortable and by the fact that we didn’t have any hassle on any flights say to me that they do their job really well.
On the bad side as an international passenger flying Trans-Atlantic if you are going to fly with them then you’re likely to have to go ...

An airline with its feet on the ground
Review of Air Canada - ACA by
kenigma
Advantages: Reasonably priced fares + compassionate discounts
Disadvantages: In-flight entertainment limited
...Canada and we had flown Air Canada. He died last week and so my mum and I had to fly out to Canada for the funeral etc. We got the phonecall at about 5pm on sunday and so had to find a flight out to Toronto for the next day. British Airways quoted me a price of £2570 roughly EACH for a flexible return ticket.
I called up Air Canada and their London office was closed, but it transferred me automatically to their HQ in Canada where I spoke to a ...

Airline of the North
Review of Air Canada - ACA by

Advantages: Friendly staff, good food, cheaper than U.S. Carriers
Disadvantages: some delays
...what airline do I use? Air Canada of course. Actually your more forced too. With the demise of Canadian Airlines, Canada 3000, Royal Airlines and with WestJet just starting to expand, Air Canada is almost your only choice when flying in Canada. But even so, Air Canada is truly a very good airline especially compared to others. Lets look into my flights.
Domestic (From Calgary to Vancouver)
One time I had to fly from Calgary to Vancouver on ...

Review of Air Canada - ACA by

Advantages: Spacious and very friendly

...I have flown on 3 Air Canada Flights and every time they were fantastic.
The first time I was flying from London Heathrow to Halifax and the flight was very good indeed. it was the first time I had ever flown by myself and experienced no problems at all. we had to walk through executive 1st to get to economy and thought I had walked into a 5 star hotel.
The seats were very spacious and there were excellent meals on the main part of the journey with ...
