    We flew Air Jamaica mid November last year, and returned in December. We also had an additional unexpected short trip with them, so you could say we've flown with them 3 times. After an uneventful 2 hour trip from Stockholm to Heathrow, we had several hours to kill before stepping abord the 350 seater A340 Airbus to take us to Montego Bay. Check-in opened four hours before the departure time, to allow for the often time consuming baggage handling - Jamaicans have a habit of travelling anything but light.     Air Jamaica is one of the cleanest, most pleasant airlines I have ever travelled on. I flew Air Jamaica a few years ago between Barbados and New York and boarded the plane not expecting much (it hasn’t got the best reputation in the Caribbean). But I was hugely surprised at how friendly the aircrew were and how much effort they put into making sure you enjoy the journey.     Advantages Advantages Good crew, food and free champagne in economy

    I flew with Air Jamaica(JM) to Montego bay airport (sangster) last year and i wasn't very impressed with the aircraft itself or the way they took on so much luggage! To start off with, the check in staff seemed to allow all the passengers to check in over their allowance. Even though they did charge them it seemed the majority of passengers were taking at leat two even three bags more than most normally would and i'm certain the total the aircraft should be safely carrying was well exceeded.     I've been married three days, it's 0530 and I've got a plane to catch. I'm (whoops, sorry..) We're (I will learn soon) flying 10 hours to Jamaica on the flag carrier Air Jamaica. In researching travel to Jamaica it seemed as though the preference was for Air Jamaica (AJ) flights if you could get them and when booking we were given the choice of AJ or BA and so I went with the flow and suggested AJ. The luggage allowance was a mighty 32 kg (up to two pieces) and up to three items of hand luggage - BA take note!     We flew London to Montego Bay (and back) at the end of Feb - beginning of Mar 06. This is our experience. Arrived at LHR to be told flight was delayed due to the incoming flight being late but could not tell us by how long, just told us to "keep an eye on the monitors". Eventually boarded 1.5 hrs late. There are no seat back TVs and only monitors along the centre of the plane with one large screen in the middle & a small one on each side on the bulkheads. The large screen was not working and we could just about see the small screen but it was impossible to see any special effects or read any ... more

    My husband and I were travelling to Cuba in February this year and connected with an Air Jamaica flight in London.I must admit,check-in was a bit strict but staff were there to direct you to what you had to do and that went off without a hitch.So did boarding the plane and that's where it all started going wrong!We were delayed for an hour due to flight computer problems and were only informed of the reasons why when someone asked after 50 minutes.It's a long,long flight to Cuba and the entertainment was nil apart from a short fashion show.Everyone put on headphones and began to listen to the ... more

    I had some trepidation travelling on a small carrier like this, but was pleasently surprised. As a software engineer an airbus is a bit of a worry, but it was roomy (BA take note) and quieter than 747s I have tried. My luggage allowance was 96KG, yes really, 3 * 32 KG bags, another lesson to BA et al in not trying to clobber people with huge execess charges (indefensible while they do not weigh the passengers). Food was good and in flight equipment is good, I got bumped up on the way out, you get seat back video and a phone! Even in cattle class the leg room was excellent. As a reserved ... more
