...due to the fact that Air New Zealand does their own ground handling in Auckland, rather than contracting it out. This meant that the ground staff had a very comprehensive knowledge of the aircraft, and when asking for an exit row seat (for the extra leg room) was able to get it for the AKL-LAX sector, but the LAX-LHR sector was already booked by another passenger.Bags went through without any hassle despite being 6kgs over the 20kg weight limit. ... ...The new seats on Air New Zealand have a nice soft fabric, with the headrest 'wings' that many travelers enjoy (giving varying levels of support), and a 9 inch television set(yes in economy!)with a brand new 450 hours of tv and movies to complement an existing selection along with kids sections, CD's, and the most advanced interactive map of the flight I have ever seen with many different views. Air New Zealand are towards the upmarket end of the non-luxury airlines. Reliable and professional, they aren't by any means the cheapest, but the Economy class is comfortable, the service excellent and gets you where you need to go. Los Angeles to Auckland

...airline that I chose was Air New Zealand. We were on a flight from London Heathrow to Auckland but stopping off in LAX (Los Angeles in the middle.) Our plane was a boing 747-400 which is on ethat I have never heard off. My mum booked them over the internet.
I flew form London Heathrow and because I have never been to the states before our family had to fill out immigration forms which we got in check-in we really wern't sure how to fill them in ... ...(That is important because with air malta my bag was over 7KG and so they took it off me in security and I had to pick it up on my way back.) And they done the whole process really quickly. With it being the states then you need a lot of security checks after the 9/11 inciddent. Advantages: service Disadvantages: long haul flights
I have flown with Air New Zealand for a long time and found them to be the best Airline around, (fighting for the top of course). The service is absolutely wonderful, whatever you need they're there with a reassuring smile. The stewards were very friendly and always gave their help whenever they could. the flight landing was comfortable and the seating is brilliant.
On long haul flights, it's especially nice to have good in-flight staff, a regular ... ...same videos on the way there and on the way back. If you ask they will change the video but remember to ask or you will be stuck with a film you have already seen!

...6 long haul flights with Air New Zealand in ht elast 4 months and I have to say they are one of the best airlines I have flown with. The staff are honestly friendly and have a good sense of humour while still maintaing the attentivness to their jobs. They were always on hand to bring drinks through out the flight and brought hot face cloths to wash with in the mornings as well.
The seats have pleanty of legroom for the average passengers and I had ... ...is also possible on request adn with the pilot agreeance to go into the cockpit with the piolots for landing.
The planes were always clean and i felt very safe.
There were plenty of toilets with space which were well equiped.
The planes all showed current films suitable for all ages and with plenty of viewing screens so there was no trouble seeing them either. There is also a good choice of music to listen too. ...

I recently flew to New Zealand with this airline and they were fantastic! I have a baby brother that was only 6 months old at the time. The airline were very helpful with prams, seating for us, and on flight service for him. They had a wide range of foods that were available for him, such as organic food, sugar free food, etc, and they were happy to warm any food or drinks up for him. Very friendly.

Well I am bucking the trend. I have never been so scared on a flight in my life as on ANZ. I think they need to update their rolling stock as the flight I was on was the most ricketty and noisy flight I have ever experienced. As we taxied to the runway we shuddered and jolted. As we sped along prior to take off. bits of trimfell around our ears. As we flew across the Pacific on an 8 hour flight condensation dripped down my neck. I flew to LA with Air NZ. It was by far the best flight I have been on with good service. They are used to long haul flights as this is their specialism and they do it very well. The flight seemed relaxed, it was easy to sleep, there seemed to be more room and the 11 hours went very quickly.
It was cheap too - by far the best bargain to the West coast of the USA.
The NZ wine in flight was especially good even though I was flying between London ...

Air New Zealand is one of the best airlines I have ever travelled with. For long-haul they really know how to treat customers. The seats are so comfortable, with plenty of legroom and nifty little head-rest flap things that you can use to support your head. It is a long flight between London and Auckland, I was totally dreading it, but when I arrived I survived! The food is fine, airplane food is never great. I ordered a veg meal, which I got about ... ...is great as it kills the time. They managed not to misplace my luggage, which is always a bonus! By its very nature, Air New Zealand has to serve only long routes, and its service is designed with the difficulties of extremely long flights in mind (for example, more than a day of flying to get from London to Auckland). Their service to Auckland stops to refuel in Los Angeles, and take 12 hours. You get more leg room and more pampering from the staff than on the more conventional British / American carriers on this route, yet the price is often ...

You have far more space in economy than any of the other major carriers, and as you are not stopping enroute it makes for a great trip too..
