Alcudia, Majorca

I went to Alcudia for my honeymoon, which I wouldn't really recommend. We found there was a limited amount to do for couples, unless you like staying on a beach or shopping for your entire holiday. The jouney from the airport to Alcudia usually takes 1/2 hour, but due to extensive road works our journey took an hour. I was quite disappointed with the scenery, it was very bland, yellow grass, a couple of trees, roadworks and the odd derilict house. ...
...Once there we did find people very friendly and enjoyed the pubs. We were told by an english bar worker the ice cubes in bars are only ok, if the bar has a white fridge. All ice cubes/water from a white fridge is imported so is safe, he told us where ever we go look for a white fridge if the place doesn't have one don't touch the water. I've been going to Alcudia for 5 years now. I always go for 29th june which is the Festival of St. Peter the patron saint of fishermen. This starts with a 3 week build up of events for the locals, mainly for children. It culminates on 29th june with a parade and marching band from Alcudia old town to the small church in Alcudia port area. The whole length of the road from Alcudia old town to the port is covered in what looks like olive leaves behind ...
...the next morning. At 7-30 pm all the boats in the harbour sail out a small distance to the sea where they are all blessed by a priest and at midnight there is the best pyrotechnics display you will ever see. Then the locals all start to celebrate. Alcudia itself is spread over 3 main areas. The old town, the port area and Belle Vue which has been purpose built for tourists and very much like Blackpool or Skegness so Belle Vue is worth giving a miss. ...

Alcudia is a well known holiday destination for the british public, it is situated about 1 hours drive away from the airport on a peninsula to the north of the island of Mallorca. Alcudia itself is split into three parts, The old town where they have a market on a wednesday, the port which is quite pretty with a large number of boutiques, bars and shops, and the sea front which consists of a main street about 5 miles long set back from the sea edged ...
...and pure white sand, its about 6 or 7 miles long with sun beds and shades for hire. The shops and bars nearest the beach are over priced, walk 200yards in land and you will pay a lot less for your product. (A twister lolly 350.00 pesetas on the beach, 145.00 pesetas in land). ...It was easy to get to sleep - not much noise from pubs and clubs. I'd imagine it gets noisier as you get nearer the port area. So I'd highly recommend Alcudia, especially if you have young children. Young couples without children might want to go somewhere a bit busier. ...

We all had a fantastic holiday at the Marte. I had read some of the reports before we went, and i thought it was gonna be butlins from hell!!! But when we arrived I had to disagree. The food was excellent, there was so much variety, yes there was pork on the menu everyday but so was chicken, beef and all types of fish. Also salads, pasta, bread, vegetables, potatoes, pizzas and a good selection of kids favorites and also so much more. The service ...
...away straight away and there was plenty of clean tables available to be seated at. The staff were fantastic they were always smiling and loved the kids. The rooms were cleaned everyday and the staff were always polite and helpful. I've been to Alcudia about 5 times now, so its obvious I like the place! There's 3 areas of it which all run into each other and doesnt take long to get from one place to another. Playa de Muro, filled with hotels, pubs, restaurants etc. Alcudia itself, which again has things to do during the day, plenty shops and the Port of Alcudia which is lovely as its the oldest, more traditional part of the town. Alcudia is lovely, with plenty for kids and ...

I visted majorca in 2005 in it was most definately one of the best family holidays that I have ever had. First off i stayed in Hotel de Alcudia as an all inclusive restaurant. This hotel was very nice and very clean. It was very tall, with a bit of a dodgy lift, but on the bright side I got plenty of exercise on the stairs and there was a superb view over the beach. The meals in the restaurant were all buffet and there was always a great selection ...
...as fish fingers and chips. They even supplied for meals a day with a supper at night supplying snack sort of foods, something which I thought was excellent. The entertainment in this hotel was what you would expect to find in a holiday resort but it did keep us entertained and there was one rather excellent hypnotist show. The only down side to this hotel was how small the pool was. However we were extremely lucky to be literally across the road ...

I HAD MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT VISITING ALCUDIA.WE TRAVELLED WITH THIMPSONS AND STAYED AT THE DELFIN AZUL HOTEL WHICH IS SITUATED JUST OFF THE MAIN ROAD RUNNING THROUGH THE TOWN.THE HOTEL WAS WELL KEPT BUT BASIC.THE RESORT ITSELF CATERS FOR JUST ABOUT EVERYONE FROM LARGE GROUPS OF LADS TO THE FAMILY.THE BEACH IS WITHIN EASY ACCESS OF THE MAIN ROAD WHERE ALL THE HOTELS ARE BASED.AND A WALK TO THE BEACH SHOULD TAKE NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES.FOR THOSE WHO ...
