Advantages: Beaches, history, scenery, relaxation Disadvantages: Little nightlife (if that's what you are looking for)
Alghero is a wonderful town on an amazing island. I'm almost tempted to
leave my review at that and let you discover the place for yourself, but I
have a feeling you'd like to know a little bit more. So here are my
recommendations, based on more than a dozen trips over the past couple of
years. We even convinced my brother to buy a place there this summer!
WHEN TO GO
Alghero is great year round, but June to September are the warmest ...

...booked two flight tickets to Alghero, Sardinia.
Of course, even the most peaceful times require some planning. So for the month until we departed, I planned how to do nothing for 4 days. And looking back, I am glad to announce I was quite successful at it.

Advantages: Busy town in Northern sardinia, good base Disadvantages: Small airport
...enjoyed my brief stay there. Alghero, the tourism capital of northern Sardinia, is a fascinating town of immense historical interest, which also has excellent beaches. It can be lively, vibrant and cosmopolitan in the holiday season when there are open markets, bars and restaurants, which cater for most tastes. There are quality hotels and apartments, which complement the traditional tourist amenities, which are transforming Alghero into one of the ...

We stayed in Alghero, in the North West. Big intentions to explore the whole place but it had everything we wanted, so we just hung out there for 5 days. Other parts of the island all have their own special character, from the North East, where the Aga Khan developed a very expensive posh area, to the south where there is more shopping and bustle, and the interior where there are more sights to see.
But we enjoyed the sea and the ...

...into the old town of Alghero, although there was a bus, we thought we would walk off the calories. The walk was 45 minutes and I soon regretted wearing heels! But it was worth it once we got to the old town, it was like stepping back in time, and it was very busy. I had sex on the beach, the cocktail, at the Jamacan Inn, and it was the best I've ever had! A bargain as well at 4 euros. The staff were very friendly and patient as we attempted to speak ...

Advantages: Beautiful beaches, fantastic food, great sightseeing Disadvantages: Italian Drivers, crowds
Was looking for a short break mainly beach based and used a specialist found on Teletext but next time I'd do it myself to reduce the cost.
With Ryannair flights from Stansted so cheap it makes sense to go it alone and just book a hotel on line - there are plenty of decent search engines to find anything from a hostel to a 5*.
We decided to hire a car from the Airport and it was a good move as we used it to get out and about a bit and use different ...

a relaxing week Review ofAlghero, Sardinia (Italy)by

Advantages: excellent restaurants Disadvantages: not cheap!
I travelled to Sardinia in June, somewhere I had always fancied going but never quite got round to it. We took advantage of a package deal which seemed like a good deal but in reality was no less than what we had expected to pay. We flew from Liverpool to Alghero and stayed at the Florida Hotel, Alghero on B&B basis
.
The flight was fine, on arrival a short transfer to the hotel (about 20 minutes)
The Florida hotel is 3 star, located opposite ...

Advantages: Close to Beach and Old Town. Disadvantages: Not great to look at from outside, but good inside.
This Hotel The ALMA d ALGHERO is just the place for a short stay in Alghero. Location is fine, within short stone throw of the Beach and close enough to the Old Town to walk your dinner off. (about 20 min slow stroll). The rooms are clean and bright and the showers large enough for even large people.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast time there is a good range to choose from. Cerials, cheeses, meats breads, fruits, cakes and even ...

Advantages: Relaxing, nice pool area and beach, shuttle bus to Alghero. Disadvantages: Hotel drinks quite expensive, pool water was very chlorinated.
I chose to go to Alghero, Sardinia after looking at Ryan Air's fly for a penny (+tax and charges which were low) site. I also wanted somewhere which will still have good weather in October. We were lucky because it was very hot for four of the five days we stayed.
The Punta Negra hotel is just a short ride from the airport and cost about 20 euros by Taxi, the people behind us in the taxi queue were also going to the same hotel (realised only when ...
