Good

“Reliable but overrated”

published 02/02/2001

convenient, enough seats, variety of drinks

mediocre food, no atmosphere, impersonal service

The good thing with chain bars is that you always know what you're going to get. With All Bar One that usually means enormous spaces, a look that's modern without being aggressively so, long and well-stocked bars, and big wooden tables with gold numbers on (so the waiters and waitresses know...

Great atmosphere

Dear

All Bar one is an excellent bar with a great attitude and is always crouded. They are a chain with numerous bars around the capital. The one in Leicester Square is probably the best known because of location. The door policy can become strict towards the end of the evening, groups of guys not...

“Fantastic Nosh”

great to chill out at in the afternoons

none

I simply love the food at All Bar One. I've been to the branch at London Bridge twice already and I've had a fantastic time on both occassions. The first time I was at All Bar One, I had some sort of bangers and mash without the bangers that came with a really tasty whipped potato that has oyster...

“Very Swish!!”

Nice decor, relaxing during the day

Loud in the evening and expensive

This chain is known by all Londeners. It typically has a nice setting and an interesting wine list. Especially prominent in and around the City, with one at Farringdon, One at Angel and one in the heart at Moorgate, it has a typical business-man-after-work-clientelle. However Leicester Square's...

“Nice predictable comfort”

Too omnipresent

Aw, people make their jibes at All Bar One but the place continues to multiply their cardboard cutout chain stores and restaurants all over the country. Certainly, the bar has been equated with middle class values, unimagination, death to the mom and pop shop. It may be all of these things but I...

relaxed and chilled

none

Hampstead All Bar One, is one of the most relaxed, best atmosphere bars I know. We always go in there when we fancy a hassle free night out. It is never busy but for some reason it just enhances the ambiance, - chilled -. I don't know it's somewhere I would go on the look out for men, as I have...

Satisfactory

“All bar me”

published 08/08/2000

It keeps the city types in one place

Over priced and over hyped

Would you like this bar? Well, why don't you zoom through the checklist below and see if you are compatible with the "All Bar One" philosophy: 1. You like your beer expensive - I don't mean that you like good, expensive beer, I mean that you would quite happily kiss goodbye to a £20 note for a...

Not for me

Not bad for a pint...

"Tapas" style food

The portions are ridiculous. Do not bother to eat here! Its fine for a glass of wine, a pint, a coffee,,, but not for food. In the All Bar One at Waterloo we ordered "tapas" style food. All the portions were tiny and not cheap either. The Roast vegetable kebabs were pathetic. The staff must have...

Relaxing and informal

Drinks a bit pricey

Wherever you go in Central London you won’t be far from an ‘All Bar One’. The bars are all very similar - wooden tables and chairs and a few have nice big comfy sofas which you can sink into. The atmosphere is generally relaxed but some of the busier bars in Leicester Square can get rather busy...
