Advantages: beautiful historic area in Germany Disadvantages: you can wait for hours before you get in
...in the Fussen area (the Alpine region) and a one hour drive from Munich. While the castle ist worth every penny of what you have to pay to see it, the waiting in line for it is something nobody likes. In the summer time thousands of people come to Neuschwanstein and want to see the castle. You either walk up ther(25 Minutes up the hill) or take a bus or an horse cart (1 hour wait on most days). Up there you have to stand in line for about 1 hour ... ...castle.
Then you have to wait again for your guided tour. There are 5 lines for 5 different languages: german, englisch, french, spanisch and japanese. Most of the time each line is long and you will spent at least an hour waiting again. Especially on hot days it is a pain. Every 30 Minutes one guided tour starts for each languages. With a 5 Minute delay between each group, that there aren´t any mixups or problems like that.
