A Class Act?

Advantages: Competitive prices, friendly staff, easy booking, One World member
Disadvantages: Tired planes, new business class seat

I have been flying with American Airlines on a regular basis since about 2001, when it was the airline of choice of my then employer for trans-Atlantic flights. For about five years I made reasonably regular trips over the pond in business class paid for by my company and around the same time I made a couple in economy class paid for by myself. Currently I am based in Bermuda which inevitably means plenty of trips to the US East Coast to relieve ...
...American for several trips to each of New York and Miami. Last year we travelled to Mexico and Ecuador with AA on holiday and finally this year I cashed in seven years of air miles purchasing first class tickets to Japan for myself and my husband. So in a nutshell, this is an airline I have used a lot, I have been in all travel classes and the review will be based on all my experiences. I have been a member of the AA travel awards program since ...

~~Absolutely Another Flight with AA is an option~~

Advantages: AA tries its best for the safety and comfort of the passengers
Disadvantages: Having old models of aircrafts

...my verdict to fly with American Airlines (AA) from UK to the United States of America! ~~WHY AA? 1. Travel Agent's Promotional Package My travel to the US for the third time after 8 years from my last visit has a mix of emotions: fear of terrorist attacks and jubilant to meet my cousin and her family in California. With these feelings, it is really hard to choose what airline to bring me safe to Uncle Sam. The answer to this is my travel agent ...

American Airlines: Absolutely Average

Advantages: Comfortable seating. Plently of leg room. Excellent website.
Disadvantages: Disappearing Attendants.

...was made for us as American Airlines fly directly to Chicago daily from Manchester (our nearest airport) at a reasonable time - leaving at 10.30 a.m. and arriving in Chicago's O'Hare at 1 p.m. (Other UK airports served by American Airlines are London's Stansted and Heathrow). Return flights to Chicago are currently (May 2008) £351 per person. Other US destinations are available at a range of prices. To keep things simple we also used an American ...
...For their international flights, American Airlines use Boeing 777s or 767 (ours a 767)... There are three classes of service on these planes: First, Business and Economy. There is also a marked difference between classes! Our class - economy! The first class cabins are incredible. The seats are arranged in rows of 2-2-2 format divided by two aisles and are leather. There is enough room to lay the seats down flat to sleep if you so wish. If you are ...

Advantages: It has more segments than any other airline

...all of my time on American Airlines (AA). Now you might not think that AA is of any interest to you in the UK. However, AA is part of a frequent flyer program called the OneWorld Alliance. Any flights that you take on American, Aer Lingus, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Lan Chile or Quantas counts toward this program and can be used for free flights with any of these airlines. I quite often get email alerts for flights from Dallas-Ft. ...
...£220. Thus, this can be a pretty cheap way to get to the US if you are so inclined. If you are in the Americas, AA is by far the most well represented airline. If you have to take a shuttle flight it most likely will be on AA. The Frequent Flyer Program For those of you that fly a lot, you know this is one of the most important features of an airline. Since I am 6’3” and weigh 230+ lbs I am always very interested in how quickly I can get upgrades ...

What an expierence!!

Advantages: Extra 3" of legroom, tasty meals, prices
Disadvantages: Grumpy staff, poor service, never apologise for their mistakes

I used American Airlines to travel from Heathrow London to Chicago, Chicago to Las Vegas, a week later Las Vegas to San Francisco via Los Angles & another week later San Francisco to London Heathrow. Why use American Airlines when I could have used any number of other airlines? There were two main factors, price & the extra legroom in cattle class (sorry economy!) which the airline boasted at the time. An extra 3" means a hell of lot when you're ...
...& returned home. But, American Airlines had one more surprise for me, when I came to collect my luggage in London, the two sturdy plastic wheels of my suit case & axle assembly that the wheels roll on had been broken off & went missing. When I tried to lift the case with the only remaining handle, it came off in my hands despite being made from sturdy material. I couldn't believe such a strong case could be so badly damaged in transit, I guess they ...

Not Down On My Knees

Advantages: Great Leg Room in Coach, Prices, Service, Safety
Disadvantages: Not such great movies, not extremely clean on short "shuttle" flights

...both trans-Atlantic and US-domestic, on American Airlines. I think you’d agree with me that after this extensive experience, I now have sufficient fodder to allow me to forward to you my opinion of this particular airline. First of all, I bet you’re wondering why I would even bother to tell people in the UK about an airline that caters mostly to US flyers? Well, you should know that American Airlines (AA) is in partnership with many non-US airlines, ...
...This means that AA points can be used to purchase BA flights and visa versa. Any of my readers out there that have some BA points that are getting dusty, you might be interested in using them for a hop over to the left side of the big pond. And if you don’t have enough BA points for that, its nice to know that your BA account can get a boost with any AA flight you take. So, that’s my justification for writing this op. Take it or leave it. One of ...

...got round to writing about American Airlines. I was going to do it last week, but with there being yet another disaster with A/A, I thought it wouldn't be the right time to do a review about them. On the 14th of October, my husband and I boarded the flight AA 55 to Chicago, with slight apprehension. As we were in the queue waiting to check in, we looked around to see if there were any suspicious characters. No, everything seemed ok. I didn't think ...

American Airlines, is one of the major airlines in the US flying to over 275 destinations worldwide. Along with it's regional airline American Eagle it is a key player in the Airline industry in the US. Serving a wide and diverse international and regional destinations. This might mean you have to negotiate a trip from one terminal to another but at most airports the signing and transportation between different terminals is relatively easy. One thing to bare in mind is if you are flying into the US then onto another City you will have to claim your luggage at your first port ...

The Best Transatlantic Economy Experience

Advantages: Legroom, 777's, Competitive Price
Disadvantages: Meals could be better

...Virgin(3), British Airways(2), Continental(1) and American Airlines(4). As someone who stands tall at 6'4", the legroom issue may well be higher on my priority list than others - in fact, in deciding who to fly with I would list my priorities as:- 1. Comfort 2. Price 3. Timetable and routing 4. Meals 5. Service Taking these factors into consideration, American Airlines is my preferred airline. They have adopted a policy of increased legroom ...
...TV's, footrests etc. On price, American is at least comparable to the others so no real advantage either way. From a timetable and routing perspective, I believe American schedule to the US is bettered only by BA in terms of the number of direct flights and the number of US cities served. Meals on AA are not spectacular - pretty poor actually. Both BA and Virgin beat them on this count. However, it is not a big deal and I will usually eat what ...

I have used American Airlines on four seperate occasions and so my opinion is not based on a one off experience. The last time I flew with them was last year.I went from London Heathrow to Orlando via Chicago(which is AA hub airport)On the return leg I flew from Miami directly into Heathrow. STAY INDOORS DURING A LIGHTENING STORM

Advantages: Good leg-room, many flight routes, may get good ticket price
Disadvantages: Bog-awful films, WET LUGGAGE

American Airlines (AA), along with United, make up the two largest american airlines. American have a policy of being very customer-friendly, which is reflected in their decision to give customers leg-room in coach class, so that you won’t have to be a contortionist on a long-haul flight. However, my experience of AA is not so customer-friendly. Let me explain. I was recently on a trip from Glasgow to San Francisco International, with a change ...
...was smooth (apart from being sat between a warring couple who insisted on throwing liqcorice allsorts at one another!). Leg-room was ample, the films were appalling and this led to a good sleep for yours truly! On arriving at Chicago, I was met with temperatures in excess of 90 degrees, but other than that a clear, sunny day. Within two hours, however, torrential rain had appeared and as we boarded the flight, we were sat on the tarmac for two hours ...

We couldnt figure the difference between the queues until we got to the front......she was deciding who was to get searched (again!). ...

Manchester to Boston and back with AA

Advantages: Good direct service, ticks all the boxes
Disadvantages: Food, planes and service all very average

...there was to fly with American Airlines which offers a non-stop service from Manchester, UK where I live. The American Airlines (AA) service is code share with British Airways and departs from terminal 3 at Manchester Airport and arrives at Boston's Logan Airport which is only three miles or so from the centre of Boston. Mixed experiences with AA

Advantages: comfortable, good food
Disadvantages: headset rental on some journeys, no frequent flier miles on some legs of the trip

I flew on AA from Heathrow to JFK then onwards to Barbados and then the return (BGI-JFK-LHR) with a 1 week stopover in New York on both legs of the journey. My experiences were very mixed. On the first leg (LHR-JFK) I found the seating to be rather close . . . closer than usual for a trans-atlantic flight. There were no individual monitors in the backs of seats but we were provided with free headsets and the food was of good enough quality. The ...
...second leg of my journey (JFK-BGI) was not as good. The service was below that of my first leg of the journey. You were asked to pay US$5 for headset rental. The food was reasonably good again. The BGI-JFK leg was a bit inconvenient as when I booked I wasn't allowed tobook a direct flight from BGI-JFK. I was told by my UK travel agent that this was not an option and I had to instead change planes in Puerto Rico. Why this was so, I'm not sure as ...

It was noisy and turbulant and the cabin staff of 1 was rude, seemed to have no clue about her job and she spent more time talking to her Latino comprades in the front row seats.
