Architektu, Prague

Club Architektu is one of those places you have to be really looking hard to find. Its in a small courtyard on Betlemske namesti. It is in a cellar underneath an art gallery. We tried looking for it and couldn’t find it and ended up in a pub. We were freezing and needed warming up! We had one drink and left. Right next to the pub was Club Architektu! How come we didn’t notice it before……??? Before I go on, do not go to the pub next to Club Architektu. ...
...full of old locals, who seem to know you are a tourist and keep staring at you. Also we think the bar man knew we were tourists and over-priced our drinks! We went down the stairs and asked for a table for 2. We went on a Tuesday, and even then it had a few people there but not too many so it was cramped. Club Architektu, in a small courtyard near to the Town Square is a lovely, lovely restaurant- it is based under an art gallery, in the cellar and so is a little difficult to find but is worth it. The bill, for three of us, came to around 6 to 7 pounds, including drinks, and though this could be considered expensive for Prague, the portions are massive. I could barely finish my meal while my American friend said that they were the only normal sized ...
...selection of food but what there is is good, and quite varied. The celery patties sound odd but are delicious. The place itself is gorgeous and good english is spoken; the staff are friendly and polite. Vegetarians are catered for, and not just with the normal margahrita pizza. If you are hungry in Prague this is a good place to go. It can get busy so you might be best of making a reservation. The restaurant itself is in an old crypt and this adds to the atmosphere of the place. The service is quick and efficient and the staff are informal and knowledgeable. I can only add my agreement to the positive comments stated about Club Architektu. This restaurant was the first place we ate in Prague, and it still has captured something of our whole experience in the city. Following directions from our guide book, we ended at the most seedy, undercover courtyard, which positively doesn't want to be found but the passing tourist.
