Arlington Hotel, Dublin

The Arlington hotel is in the centre of Dublin nest to the river Liffey. I went with my husband and 7 other friends- which ended up with us requiring 3 double rooms 1 twin room and one single- we booked online and took up their offer of the winter madness (this meant by going Monday to Wednesday we would have free breakfast both mornings and one free evening meal for €99 per person per night) this was available for us all except for the one who booked ...

The Arlington Hotel is situated in the heart of Dublin, just off O’Connell Street, and across the river from the Temple Bar area of the city. The entrance hall and adjoining Knightsbridge Bar are decorated like something out of a medieval movie, complete with a faux set of armour. ...between the distillary and the ARLINGTON is about half a mile, if not more. I suffer from MS and a walk of that distance is a problem and by the time we reached the Liffey I had become very steady on my feet and we looked for a comfortable place to sit and to take in the atmosphere of the festival. Stayed here for 5 nights at the end of April. Paid extra for an "Executive Mini Suite" which was an L shaped room with an extra armchair and sofa - never saw the "normal" rooms but wouldn't have paid all that extra if I'd known what it would be like. The room looked out over the Liffey which if you've been to Dublin before you'll know is not a great selling point and as the room was at the front of the Hotel the traffic could be heard and felt ...
...also a problem - there was no menu in the room and on asking about it at reception was told "go to the bar for a menu" they are not put in rooms! Another problem was the TV in the bedroom - advertised on the website as having "Satellite Multicahnnels" - well don't expect too much (Eurosport, a few Irish channels, a couple of foreign channels and the usual CNN) though there was a large screen and TVs in the bar with sky channels. ...knew our way around. The Arlington had a good website offer and seemed one of the only city centre hotels with parking. We got a room upgrade as the doubles had all gone..family room we could have had a party in it soooo huge. The second night we watched their entertainment of Irish music and dancing until 11pm and then went up to bed. Well the disco downstairs was so loud we couldnt sleep. After calling down to reception 3 times it ended...at ...
...so maybe the rest is not as affected. But I think it is only on the weekend as there was no noise on the first night. I will stay again, but only mon-wed!! Breakfast was good, busy hotel so had to wait 5-10mins for table. We didnt have any other meals there as there is so much to choose from in Dublin. The location meant it was all in walking distance and the stop for the bus tour is right outside so great for first timers in Dublin. ...

...amazing time in dublin. The Arlington was superb. Stayed there for two nights over a weekend (cost 125 euros for a double per night), The staff were ok (not too friendly on reception,but ok )and the food , bar and entertainment (especially the irish dancers ) were fantastic.The bar is enormous and the atmosphere was superb (so was the guinness !) The rooms were very clean and well kept and had tea and coffee making facilitys. There was a tv plus ...
