Astraeus are a 'No frills' airline flying to mostly european destinations from various british airports including Manchester, Leeds Bradford and Belfast. ...to Malta from Manchester with astraeus airlines in April 2005. The check in was using a ticketless system which was all new to us, infact we were a little apprehensive that we had been conned. Checkin was slightly quicker than having tickets, and it all went smoothly. We got on the plane and it appeared a little shabby/old but ok. We normally fly with Air malta who provide a magazine all about malta, a daily paper and drinks before the meal are complimentary. We booked through Red Sea Flights for a recent trip to Sharm and were flown out by Astraeus. I had heard from them before as my hubby is an Iron Maiden fan and the lead singer is a pilot for the company (no he didn't fly us) We booked the flights and hotel through imperial Travel buit will book direct with red sea and med hotels next time. The flight was £260. The plane was a 737 so the leg room wasn't as good as could be but I was comfortable and ...

The staff were very efficient and the food edible, we were served a chicken pasta bake with vegetable which was piping hot. ...weeks with Longwoods, who used astraeus airlines. The planes are all fairly new (within the last two/three years i beleive). Other than being like you would expect a plane to be like, the only drawback was that they had cut their costs by not including inflight movies or radio, so we had to take our mp3 players to amuse us for the 4.5 hours to egypt. Although this bothered me before getting on the plane it didnt really make that much difference. ...
...fed us at breakfast time on the way out but the roast chicken dinner we got for tea on the return flight was as good as plane food can get. Finally all the staff where happy, smiley people who were very helpful and polite. And from a nervous plane passenger i was very relaxed. ...

We flew with Astraeus in May 2004 by Boeing 737 to Lesvos - we had booked with Direct Greece and since they don't have their own airline holidaymakers get added onto someone else's flights , but this did not prove a problem. Astraeus otherwise known as Aeolus (or Aiolos, Αἴολος) in Greek Mythology was the Keeper of the Winds, and this is obviously where they took their name. ...efficient. We had pre-booked vegetarian meals and had emailed the airline a week beforehand to check these were available , and on both flights our meals arrived with no problems. As an additional piece of interest Bruce Dickinson lead singer of Samson and Iron Maiden is a First Officer of this airline ...
