Atlanta is a vibrant metropolitan city in the heart of the American south. As it is a Delta hub the airport gives flight options to and from many different places. ...of the southern states, and Atlanta a southern city in such a state. This means 2 things: hot summer weather, and laid back, friendly natives. While you can't often sum up an entire city's climate or population in such a way, it definitely seemed true here. ...Yes forest, not just trees. Atlanta is a heavily wooded city. It's a bit hard to describe cos I've not encountered a city with so much greenery. The airport is said to be the busiest in the world. Not sure why or how though. Would have thought Heathrow or JFK would hold that position, but it is very large (need a train to take you from one terminal to another) and very well kept I must say. ...and places to go to, Atlanta is not short of its sights and sounds. It has the centennial park and a great big aquarium. CNN headquarters is located down town and one can enter and eat in the many eateries there all at reasonable price i must say. Close by is the Coca-cola centre which is head quartered there as well. Atlanta has been described as “the Los Angeles of the South”. Such a comment is grossly unfair to a wonderful city. Atlanta was the host of the Summer Olympics in 1996 and because of this the city is still enjoying a boom, as well as an immense showing of civic pride. ...hand there are the mod-cons. Atlanta has an excellent public transport system (MARTA) and goes to great measures to try and encourage people to use it. ...Mall approximately 30 mins from Atlanta but worth it over 160 shops like Reebok, Adidas etc exceptional value for money. The city of Atlanta is a great place to spend a vacation. If you want to experience life in a big city, but can't cope with the crime and sheer size of places like New York or Los Angeles, Atlanta is perfect. The population is very sizeable, and the city is very warm in the summer! Usually 100 degrees, and quite humid. I personally enjoyed this very much. Atlanta is the home of Coca Cola and CNN, and you can get tours of their magnificent buildings. ...

I think Atlanta is one of those great cities that is so underrated. While not huge (by American standards) it certainly offers a large number of attractions for the visitor. With Atlanta being at the hub of the Delta Airlines network it makes an ideal stopover for a few days before flying off to your destination – this is the way I discovered it. Not only is Atlanta often 95 degrees farenheit in the shade in summer months, but it's one HOT city for career opportunities, night-life, unbelievably affordable housing on large lots of land compared to any other city in the world, and great people to meet.
