    AutoEurope are definitely the best of the best. I went to mainland Europe for a two week holiday last year to visit my family again and since I took a lot of presents along (and also intended to bring a sack full of things back over) I decided to go by car, rather than fly. I rang around and checked the official web sites of about a dozen big car rental companies (incl. Sixt, Budget, Alamo, Europe Car etc.) and the best quote I could find for a 14-day-all-inclusive-rental to the mainland for a Mondeo-size car was from Europe Car at around £450.     Disadvantages Disadvantages The car was in very poor condtion and they stole money from my credit card.

    I hired a car through Auto-Europe with Advantage Car Hire (fully prepaid) at Bergamo Airport, Italy. The car was in very poor condition with virtually all panels scratched, scraped or dented. There were some "X"s on the hire agreement showing some of the damage. When I pointed out some more damage the agent just added a few more "X"'s and said "Do not worry about it". Actually, the damage was too numerous for anyone to record accurately. The car drove fine and we returned it without incident in the same condition as pick up. There was no one checking the cars in.     Advantages Advantages Easy to navigate web site and a very nice car.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Lengthy process to pick up car and prebooked baby seat not ready.

    It was so easy to organize on the internet, I actually rang the help line to double check the booking (an 0800 number)...ah all was o.k. I am always the person to try every web site to get the best deal and AutoEurope had it. I booked an automatic people carrier with A/C for a week in Montpellier for £290. When we arrived at the airport the car hire area was over run with desperate tourists trying to get their keys and start their holiday, I was one of them.     I first wrote this review when I booked the car and based on that experience, I can truely recommend Auto-Europe as a great alternative to holiday autos..... NOT only did I get a remarkable cheap deal...(less than £600 for 4 weeks, Passat) but recently they sent me an email saying that the boooking I made was now actually available for £49 less and arranged a refund.... unbelievable service and very cheap. The deal they gave me was with Europecar, and is several couple of hundred less than europecar are offering them selves, so read on and then just do it! This is, at the moment a brief review ... more

    Can I say how good we found AutoEurope. The car I booked was a 2 door with no AC, we actually had a 4 door with AC. As it was a holiday in Cyprus the AC was needed. The car was nearly new and much bigger than I expected. All in all I would recommend them to anybody who asked .

    Big Thieves. When I made the online resevation, it was $50 and said that the amount due was zero. However when I rented the car, I had to pay another surcharge of $45. The rental agency told me that it was because I had used autoeurope to book the car. They said that it would not have been the case if I had booked directly through them (and would have costed me $70).... So I ended up paying a lot more for no good reason.... Called up Customer Service, but what can you really expect... Moral of the story: They have ... more

    I feel ripped off by auto europe !! They provide a low price for a car rental so you book them. Then, when you pick up the car (at National, LaGuardia) you have no choice but to immediately pay a full tank of gas at a "special" price which is more then double of the cost at the pump. I always return rental cars with full tanks so I absolutely did not want this "option" which not even is an option because I had no choice but to pay. National say that I am obliged to pay it because of auto europe and auto europe say it is obliged by National. Another "fine feature" of this "option" is that you ... more

    This company is okay - as long as you don't have a problem. But the first time you run into any sort of trouble at all - you'll never want to use them again. The Customer Service staff are "long on courtesy, short on service". It's all very polite, but they can't do anything. They can't take decisions. They certainly can't arrange to fix or replace a broken car. They have a "best price guarantee" - which I tried to apply; but which, in the end, proved impossible for them to deal with - and it's their guarantee!     Do NOT use Auto Europe. I had a horrible experience with them after hiring a car in Sardinia. Firstly, the extra insurance to cover the excess is much higher than other car hire companies. Then, the car I hired had a broken wing mirror . When we returned the car, there were very tiny dust marks on the side, which I could wipe off with a tissue and they said it would cost me £100!! This is after I had already paid the excess on insurance to make sure I didn't get such charges. I am now trying to work out why they've charged me, but can only get through to a customer service call centre who say ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages once you turn up to collect the car you have no choice but to accept it

    We paid £460 for a car for two weeks in Cephalonia we paid this much because we wanted a ford focus or equivalent we were give a Hyundai accent when we raised the issue, that this car was available for £330 on auto Europe s web site it was all down to the small print they are little short of thieves and liars, as for the car it was caved in, scratched or covered in glue on every panel with broken mirrors and no radio it, My advice is book with CBR rent a car at least they are clear and upfront.
