I rented a car with AutoEurope. Payed in advance inclusive insurance: 340 euro. At pick up I had to pay 5000 bath. Due to a credit card limit I was not able to pay that amount. There was no other way I could pay and I had to rent a Taxi, what costs my another 75 euro to bring me to my destionation. They would not give me the car and I could not do anything else as to cancel the rental. They have special "conditions". Those conditions state: "NO REFUND". My wife and I decided to visit a sick friend in London and so my wife booked a car through Auto Europe. The local car hire company was Enterprise Rent-a- Car. Pick up and return to Gatwick airport. We arrived at Gatwick and located the Enterprise desk where I presented my driver’s licence, passport etc and everything was in order until we were offered additional insurance which we decided to accept. We used these guys at Christmas when we had a long weekend in Tenerife. The site is easy enough to use and as long as you read the conditions of the bookings you know what you getting for your money. The voucher was emailed straight away and on there it stated was we had to pay when we got to Tenerife and also that we had to pay for a full tank of fuel ( we had to drive around the block a few times to make sure we got our money's worth). I ended up having to cancel my reservation because their web site charged my card twice and no-one at AutoEurope would listen to me until after I had cancelled. This was following a string of emails, back and forth, as I was continuously passed on between different members of their organization. Then I ended up paying for the difference in exchange rates after they finally refunded me, which they refused to take responsibility for as they claimed I had used the wrong web site. Booked a car through Auto Europe for 5 days, to use in Spain. There was no mention about any particular fuel policy during the booking process, so one could well assume that this would be the standard "pick up full, return full" policy. Only after I'd paid and received the voucher, I noticed that the fuel policy of Budget Rent A Car was an abusive one, and that Auto Europe had not warned me about: you had to buy a full tank of petrol (overpriced even, at almost double the average price per litre!), with no refunds given for any unused petrol at the end of the booking. This service is absolute disaster. When I reserved a car, they forgot to send me confirmation email, so i didn't get the car, assuming that they don't have it available. But after that I noticed that I was charged. I tried to complain, saying that I didn't get the email from them, but it didn't help and they refused to refund me, claiming that it is not their problem if i didn't get the mail. Auto Europe / GoldCar Please avoid Auto Europe / Gold Car. I am sad that I did not read the fora on internet before booking. There was aggressive sales on insurances (hidden charges) and overcharging on fuel costs. We had a very unpleasant expierence in Malaga early June 2011. Auto Europe does not take any responsibility and is just a pass through player earning money. Can not understand that they continue to offer car rental companies which are not trustworthy.
