I regularly use Avis Uk for car hire at the weekends and find them quick when picking up the car and they are always explicit on the excess charges etc. They never over push the additional sales, but let me get into my nice clean car quite often with no miles on the clock. Avis in my opinion are number 2 in the car hire game Hertz being the best. So what about Avis, free to join there Priveleged customer program is worth it, you get preferential treatment, jump ques and get your car first always werth it after a long flight. ...was surprised that it was avis when my confirmation came through, as i have always thought that avis were very expensive. I paid £176.00 for medium size car for eight days rental which included a £20 discount as it was booked on line. This covered basic insurance - theft protection , as we were going to ireland for new year we upgraded to fully comp, about an extra £60 plus £40 petrol which we had to pay at dublin airport. Unfortunately I wasn't, and it took two hours to go through the rental process.
