In 55 years of air travel, I have never experienced anything like BMI-Baby's ineptitude and callous regard for the feelings of its passengers. On 20th June 2008 the 16.40 Manchester - Prague flight departed at 23.00, causing its passengers to be stranded at Prague at two in the morning; long after all public transport to the city had ceased. The result was a field day for the taxi drivers who charge more than ten times the normal train fare for the 15-mile journey. Passengers who complained to the BMI Baby staff at Manchester were told they were being abusive and were threatened with the police. The airline is a disgrace to the industry. ...

...Apparently from 29th November 1006, BMI now charge a standard rate of £5 per piece of checked bagage, or £2.50 if prebooked over the internet before travel. I contacted BMI and was told that this only applied to bookings made after 29th November, fine, this didnt include me as i booked in October. But i had another query about the luggage allowance per person. Apparently now the new change in place means that each person has a 20Kg bagage allowance ...

...huge long queue for ALL BMI flights, it took hours. Every time got near to the front they shouted through another flight in front - everyone was so late and paniced - what a farce. It was nearly as bad coming back from Spain - huge queues - it obviously dosn't pay you to come early as you just keep getting shoved to the back to make way for people on flights before yours who arrive late!! I use this airline frequently to fly to Scotland from Manchester to visit family and friends (up to ten times a year). If booked far enough in advance fares can be as low as a couple of pounds plus taxes and charges. Check in online is free and allows for limited waits in the airport. I flew from Manchester to Boardeaux on this airline. Was very happy with the service, it cost £60 one way and i managed to get an early flight. I have flown with BMI between Aberdeen and London a number of times, and have often found them to be the cheapest option when booking online. Which is all well and good if everything goes to plan. However, when booking one particular flight, (for the date September 11 no less) after inputting the details with my partner checking after everything that I selected, and after I paid with my Visa, my confirmation email arrived, with 2 seats booked on... ...

I flew this terrible airline on 27th July to Malaga with my family of 5. Booking were made online. I elected to check in 4 passengers online and one airport check-in.System allowed me to purchase 4 bags allowance @ 18kg each saying 5 bags maximum can be taken on board. At airport,I was told that only 1 bag would be allowed per person... thus 4 passengers would need to be checked in at airport... in addition, I needed to pay an additional £100 since ...

The smallest hand luggage bag was a struggle to fit into in size test equipment...I had also purchased legroom for £22 both ways and was not allocated a seat my paperwork did not specify seat number chosen prior to purchase ( that I was told was my fault and not the airlines) All in all I was extorted out of almost £200! As a frequent flyer on BMI Baby (twice a week from Durham Tees Valley to Newquay and return) I have always found their service to be extremely efficient. The price of the ticket was around £60 return and took around 50 minutes each way to fly to the destination. My experience of flying with bmibaby has been three return trips from Newquay to Manchester. The fares were excellent (better than Air Southwest's fares for the same route and rail fares for the dates of travel), particularly when I booked well in advance.
