Bacchus is one of the most original places I have ever drunk in. It has made an attempt to integrate history into drinking, with a drinking area that is enveloped into all manner of "historical" items. Bacchus Bar is situated in the centre of Birmingham on New street, which is one of Birmingham's main shopping streets. It can be found in Burlington arcade just off the street. As you go down the stairs you are instantly sent back in time. It has several themes including medieval, egyptian and traditional English decor. It's arched brick roof is very impressive, so too are the furnishings. Where ever you sit you will enjoy the whole atmosphere of ... ...various sections and walkways. It is positioned underground which adds to the feeling of passing through a time barrier and leaving the 21st century behind.
The prices are reasonable for a city centre bar and there is a good choice of food on offer. The dress code for the day is relaxed in general but smarter dress is required for the evening.
