...of wine. The name Bacchus came into use in ancient Greece during the 5th century BC. It refers to the loud cries with which he was worshipped at the
Bacchanalia, which were exhaustive celebrations in his honour. These events, which supposedly originated in spring nature festivals, became occasions for licentiousness and intoxication, at which the celebrants danced, drank, and generally debauched themselves.
Thankfully, this is not the case in the ... ...area, although this is only open Friday and Saturday to all-comers.
Bar Bacchus is on Glassford Street (east side of Marks and Spencer), Tel: (0141) 572 0080. I recommend it as a 'drink after work' venue or as a pre-club warmer - enjoy! (And don't drink too much!) ...
