    Bar Risa is another one of the bars that sprouted from the disused area of the Canal in the mid 90's. It is situated in the old British Waterways building along with Living Well gym and the newest pub Lloyds No 1. In the summer and Bank Holidays the canal is the place to be as outside seating is plentiful and there is an eclectic mix of people nearby. The canal is one of the best areas for bars in Nottingham. I count seven within about 500 meters of each other starting from Fellow?s Morton & Clayton one end and the Irish centre the other. Bar Risa is also on the same property as Jongleurs ... more

    Bar Risa is where I tend to start the night if I'm going out around the Waterfront. The bar offer 2-4-1 deals on selected lagers and bottles, making it a good place to get an evening started before moving on to more up-market bars. Risa is very Wetherspoons-esque, with cheap drinks and a boring, modern but un-interesting interior. The clientele are mostly students during term time, as the bar, like the waterfront acts as a pre-Ocean watering hole. Somwhere comfortable and unpretentious to get merry before going into the awesomely dirty Ocean nightclub :) To me Bar Risa is one of those bars ... more
