...about our recent trip to Barcelona was the amount of touristy things we did and surprisingly the lack of drinking. But the chance to explore the fantastic City of Barcelona seemed too good to pass up so, having visited the Nou Camp we needed to find a way to get to the Olympic Stadium on the other side of the city and rather than get a Taxi we decided to jump on the Bus Turistic.

Advantages: English and Spanish commentary and a simple way to see the city Disadvantages: Long queues in peak season, and when the bus stops for 5 mins the sun is very hot!
...soon as we arrived in Barcelona the waiter, seeing us struggling with tourist maps, recommended we get on the tourist bus. Now, this is something I would never do normally - preferring to explore cities independently, but as it was 30 degrees out and I am fairly pregnant at the moment, it seemed like a good option.

Advantages: Very frequent service, no queues to get on even in summer Disadvantages: buses only go in one direction so is difficult to back-track
Using the bus turistic is a fun and relatively cheap way to travel around Barcelona. There are three routes (red, blue and green) which visit all of the main sites in the city. Using these buses is not only a fairly quick way of visitng the tourist attractions, it is also a great way of experiencing the city itself as the buses are open top and you can see a great deal whilst travelling between sites.
