...and really immerse yourself. With Barcelona the quick tripper has to make a lot of decisions about what to see and what to leave out which is why you can find yourself heading home with as many regrets as happy memories.
This isn’t intended to be a comprehensive guide to Barcelona; you really would need a book to do that. What I will do is talk about some of the places I visited, some of things I saw and some, hopefully, useful tips for anyone ...

Barcelona lies on the North Eastern peninsula of Spain, the shores of the Mediterrean. It is the second largest City in Spain with a population of 3 million and is a commercial and Industrial centre. As well as being an important port it is the capital of Catalunya, a mountainous area of Northern Spain. The Catalunyans are highly proud of their steeped history and the Catalunyan language is as widely spoken as Spanish in Barcelona as well as all the ...

...travelled around Spain starting at Barcelona for three days, Zaragoza for an evening, three days in San Sebastian and ending in LaGuardia for a long weekend.
As it was quite a long trip with a lot of detail I will review each part of my trip in a different review, otherwise you might find it too long; also a lot of it might not relate to yourselves and the trip you are doing or planning to do.

...only time I had visited Barcelona before was on a day trip in the middle of August while holidaying in Salou it was so oppressively hot that I did not enjoy the experience so a visit in April for a few days seemed a more sensible option for a short city break and despite the weather being cloudy and wet it was still a far more enjoyable visit a very attractive city which has a lot to offer most visitors. It is important to time your visit to avoid ...

My opinion of Barcelona in general
As this was my first holiday, I have nothing really to compare it to, but I cannot imagine any other destination even coming close to the standard set by this magnificent city. The atmosphere, set by an interesting mix of vibrant culture, living history, and the hustle and bustle of the city, is truly amazing.
There’s definitely a lot more to Barcelona than sun, sea and sand. There’s ...

Booking
Booking was easy – the flights were through Easy Jet from Belfast to Luton and Luton to Barcelona. I’m sorry lm not putting cost in but if Paul reads this he knows how much l spent on his present!! I booked through the web and it couldn’t have been simpler. ...

I was elected to order and I said, “well, what do you want?” I swear the pair of them looked at me as if I was stupid and my mum said, “I dunno, chicken?”
Now, is it me, or when in a chicken place, do you not need to be perhaps just a little more specific than “I dunno, chicken?”
Following lunch, we walked around for a good while to let the food settle and then went on Volpaiute. It’s a waltzer and the last time I went on a waltzer was in the ...

...ago. The more I visit Barcelona the more I like it.
What is particularly striking about Barcelona is its beauty. It occupies an impressive site, dominated by the hills of Montjuich close to the harbour and the old centre. There is a place called Tibidabo, it is well worth making an excursion to the top of Tibidabo to see the view. It stands at about 1750 feet above sea level and there you will get a magnificent view of the whole town.

useful, with little lights flashing on a grid to let you know what station

they tend to deal with bus tours more than wanderers like us. Once inside,

...week in warm and wonderful Barcelona and I'm sickened to be home in rainy Scotland. Barcelona, as many of you will be aware, is one of Spain's biggest cities but isn't the capital. It does, however, hold interest for holiday-makers worldwide due to the outstanding architecture, sporting links and proximity to beaches and museums alike.
I chose June to visit Barcelona due to the comparatively good temperatures (around 30 degrees in the afternoon, ...

Advantages: Great architecture, free parks, easy to move around the city, great atmosphere Disadvantages: Beware of pick-pockets and dodgy areas
I visited Barcelona whilst Inter-railing this summer and was truly impressed.
I am a student, but I must warn you that I didn't spend the entire time drunk in bars. I've always thought that if you are abroad you should really make an effort to see the place you are in - otherwise you may as well just stay at home or go to Butlins!
I was very impressed by the city. I was less impressed by the rail system and would strongly advise travellers not ...

60km west of Barcelona, down the coast towards Tarragona, lies the little town of Calafell, right on the beach. The promenade is beautifully kept, and the seafront restaurants unpretentious and friendly. The sea is clear, and the sand soft and clean.
It is a very relaxed place, and there cannot be many places left on the coast of Spain where you can’t find English breakfasts, sausage and mash, and fish and chips as specialities! It is a tourist ...

Barcelona has everything you could possibly want. Sun, beaches, mountains, shops, clubs, bars, architecture, history, sport you name it, you’ll find it here.
The obvious place to start is Las Ramblas, one of Barcelona’s main streets, which runs down from the Plaça de Catalunya to the new port, which has recently been redeveloped and is home to shops, restaurants bars and a cinema. To the left of Las Ramblas is the Barrí Gòtic (Gothic District), where ...
