Barcelona
^^^^^^^^^
Barcelona is one of the most popular city break destinations in Europe, and for several very good reasons. It is only a short flight from the UK and with budget airlines can be very cheap to reach. Being a coastal city the climate is not too oppressive for our sensitive natures and there is a little bit of everything available to keep just about any kind of visitor entertained. There are bars, restaurants and night life if that’s ... ...and really immerse yourself. With Barcelona the quick tripper has to make a lot of decisions about what to see and what to leave out which is why you can find yourself heading home with as many regrets as happy memories.
This isn’t intended to be a comprehensive guide to Barcelona; you really would need a book to do that. What I will do is talk about some of the places I visited, some of things I saw and some, hopefully, useful tips for anyone thinking ...

...travelled around Spain starting at Barcelona for three days, Zaragoza for an evening, three days in San Sebastian and ending in LaGuardia for a long weekend. ...only time I had visited Barcelona before was on a day trip in the middle of August while holidaying in Salou it was so oppressively hot that I did not enjoy the experience so a visit in April for a few days seemed a more sensible option for a short city break and despite the weather being cloudy and wet it was still a far more enjoyable visit a very attractive city which has a lot to offer most visitors. ...up booking a trip to Barcelona via our tour operator - I know, I know, these are expensive and you pay over the odds, but I thought that at least this way, we won't get lost and also have a tour guide on the coach. ...My opinion of Barcelona in general
As this was my first holiday, I have nothing really to compare it to, but I cannot imagine any other destination even coming close to the standard set by this magnificent city. I was elected to order and I said, “well, what do you want?” I swear the pair of them looked at me as if I was stupid and my mum said, “I dunno, chicken?”
Now, is it me, or when in a chicken place, do you not need to be perhaps just a little more specific than “I dunno, chicken?” Following lunch, we walked around for a good while to let the food settle and then went on Volpaiute. ...ago. The more I visit Barcelona the more I like it.
What is particularly striking about Barcelona is its beauty. It occupies an impressive site, dominated by the hills of Montjuich close to the harbour and the old centre. There is a place called Tibidabo, it is well worth making an excursion to the top of Tibidabo to see the view. It stands at about 1750 feet above sea level and there you will get a magnificent view of the whole town.

On the other side of the Ramblas is the Barrio Chino (Chinese area). This offers pleasures of a different sort. No one is quite certain how it got its name – it certainly is ...

I visited Barcelona whilst Inter-railing this summer and was truly impressed.
I am a student, but I must warn you that I didn't spend the entire time drunk in bars. I've always thought that if you are abroad you should really make an effort to see the place you are in - otherwise you may as well just stay at home or go to Butlins!

60km west of Barcelona, down the coast towards Tarragona, lies the little town of Calafell, right on the beach. The promenade is beautifully kept, and the seafront restaurants unpretentious and friendly. The sea is clear, and the sand soft and clean.
