The picasso museum is a must as is the surreal Parc Guell... words fail me, just go see for yourself ...

Advantages: children friendly Disadvantages: many shops close at lunchtime
...someone single looking for fun, Barcelona offers us the chance to have everything we want whoever we are.
Unlike England, you can take your children out and they are always welcome in bars and restaurants. It is a very "child friendly" city even in the evening.
The nice old streets and the harbour give you the chance to have romantic walks or a bit of night life if you prefer it. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. You can choose just a "bocata" ... ...good value for money.
Barcelona is packed with history and old buildings. Don't forget to see the amazing fountains of Montjuich. Usually on at weekends, you'll be taken aback with the music and display of lights. Gaudi's works and renound Parque Guell is a must.
So much to see! Plus, you can either walk to many places or use the metro (underground) or the buses. Cheap fares and very good network allows you to move around with ease.

...months ago i went to barcelona with my school, we had a the best time of our lives, it was just amazing to see the way people lived there, the way they stopped working at lunch time, the shops/market in the middle pavement were a great sight to see, they would sell anything, shops on the sides of the sreet mainly sold football tops ect, many of my friends brought one of these by asking the shop assistent to bring down the price, which to our surprise ... ...fountain at the top of barcelona city, it is the most beautiful thing i've seen and is amazing to watch, another place to vist has to be the football ground, it is a great ground and is a interesting place to vist,
when we went to spain we went in the easter so we got to see the easter parade, it was a great sight, but as many of the locals and people from far away had come to see it it was a bit of a squash but it was worth it in the end! ...

I was in Barcelona last month, it was fantastic!
To my surprise, the airport is equally interesting too.
Barcelona has a very good transportation system. It is easy to catch the shuttle to the airport. For a single way,
it is only Euro 2.60. no extra baggage fee. when i arrived at the airport, i went to check-in with the swiss air.
it was quick and the officer is friendly.
right after checking in the bags, i was getting hungry. i went ... ...food. I went to the local terminals
trying to get my last tapas treat. Bingo! there it is! there is a cafe serving tapas.
i was very happy and then sat by the counter. there is no price tag for the tapas.
the waiter and waitress did not speak any English. they seem to be annoyed when
i keep asking how much are the food. Then i ordered a coffee, and several mini tapa sandwiches. they are all delicious!! and to my surprise, four sandwiches, a bowl ...

...in a small town near Barcelona for a year some time ago. In fact, before Bacelona had the Olympics. I found it to be the most wonderful city I had ever visited, and I still rate it in my top three places. I used to love the atmosphere around Las Ramblas and the Barrio Gotico (what's the Catalan?) and just to wander the streets was a real privilege. And the food......... wow! Barcelona is a great City rich in history and culture. I was there for a long weekend in June.
One word of warning: the most disappointing thing about my visit was that I wanted to hire a scooter to see the City in style and under my own steam - however I could not find any scooter hire shops. I asked several locals and shopowners but they did not know of one either! So bear this in mind! You can however rent cycles which are the next best form ... ...the great weather and be able to nip in and out of the narrow cobbled streets.
There are plenty of cheap 1-2 star hotels around and I think that the most exciting night life can be found around the harbour where there are lots of salsa bars and excellent sea-food restaurants. There's a particularly good floating tapas restaurant with a cosy atmosphere - check it owwtttt!! ...

I've just spent a week in Barcelona, and adored every second of it! I'm fairly well travelled (USA, India, Greece etc) and I have to say this was TOP BANANA!! We stayed in a hostel just off the Ramblers, and found it cheap, extremely clean, and the staff were really friendly.I would recommend either booking in advance or asking the information bureau to find you somewhere, as it can get very busy. The metro system is highly efficient, and much clearer ... ...the service was great, but remember to eat indoors if you want to keep the price down. Everything you might want to see is within easy reach, the whole town is built on a square grid system, with two main roads running diagonally through the city, so its pretty hard to get lost. Try visiting some of the works of Gaudi (The Temple de la Sagrada Familia is breathtaking) Montjuic is fabulous in the evening for the fountain display. The Tibidabo has ...

Anyone who doesn't like Barca must be mad. Yes like any big city it can be busy and suffer from a bit of pollution from traffic etc but it is still a great place to go. There is so much to see and do and finding your way around is easy. Jump on the bus "Turistic" and for a fee of about 7 quid you can go to all the major attractions in one day getting on and off the bus as often as you like. The underground is also easy to use and the easiest way ... ...game or visit the superb football museum. Shopping as you would expect is excellent, there are plenty of eating and drinking establishments, the tapas is wonderfull. Most locals don't seem to go out until late so expect a late night! The musical fountain is well worth a visit as is the zoo with the only white gorilla in Europe. ...

I drove in Barcelona which was probably a mistake, the roads are narrow, crowded and mostly one way, which makes finding your way around a bit of a nightmare, the drivers seem fairly courteous though and understanding of a foreigner. The best bet is to find one of the many underground car parks around the centre, they are fairly cheap, so leave the car there and explore on foot. I stayed on one of the 2 official youth hostels, the one near the cemtre ... ...get a good view of Barcelona spread out below you. The city itself is a very vibrant mix of the old and new. The architecture of Gaudi stands out the most, if you only see one of his buildings make sure it is the modern cathedral which was started a hundred years ago, and will probably take as long again to finish. For a contrast try the ancient Gothic catherdral surrounded by narrow winding Night life is vibrant, spaniards tend to eat late and party ...

Advantages: Wonderful architecture, galleries and parks, superb romantic atmosphere, great for shopping Disadvantages: Aged quarters can feel a bit grotty, but that is natural and part of their charm. More expensive than nearby localities, but then cities always are.
I stumbled on Barcelona really, with not very high expectations, and was totally breathtaken. It is excellently situated for British holiday makers at only about two hours flying time away. From the minute you get to the airport, you really become aware that you are entering another world to the UK. Barcelona is a curious mix. It's narrow streets stand as testament to much history, both modern and new. In particular you will be struck by the architecture ... ...and park (Parc Guell). Barcelona is also home to a newly constructed Olympic stadium and a nearby recreation of a Spanish village, each building representing a period in time. A beach has also now been created especially for Barcelona and really you have everything you could want within easy reach, especially if you use the Metro, which is particularly well maintained. In reality, there is way too much to list in Barcelona. It will keep you busy ...

I loved Barcelona!
I went a few years back with three friends and had such a fun time.
They have so many shops there, it would take the best part of a week to go to them all!
The buildings are amazing, I took many a photo, just of buildings.
If you go to Barcelona, you should go to Universal Studios (its about an hour or so away). Its awesome! Went twice, and there is so many rides to go on (plus you can get a great sun tan which is always a ...

Barcelona has to be one of the most romantic cities that I have ever visited. There seems to be so much to do and see.
My advice to all of you who are thinking of going is book your flights now. The cheapest flight I found was £170 with EasyJet from London Luton Airport but expect to pay up to £300 for the pleasure. If you book ahead you can get some excellent offers from the 'no-frills' airlines for around £70-100.
Once in Barcelona, make sure ... ...Catalunya, La Sagrada Familia, La Cathedrale, even the Olympic Stadium, host to the 1992 Olympic Games. Be sure to go and see the magnificent fountain display every weekend near Passeig de Gracia.
So eating, my advice, if you're looking for great food at reasonable prices is to find your way amongst the backstreets. There are so many little cafes and restaurants nestled away. One that I found for tapas behind the seafront towards the Cathedrale ...

Advantages: Popular places to visit, affordable price, easy to getaway. Disadvantages: English ability of local people, some prices are somewhere high.
I went to Barcelona in the beginning January 2009. That was my first experience visiting 'one of the must visit' city in Spain. By the time we (me and my friends) arrived, we went by airplane and arrived in Girona Airport. I must say that English ability of Spanish people is not that good. Sorry for writing this, but I just want to share my experience. After that we went from airport to the city centre of Barcelona (where the phenomenal Las Ramblas ... ...We stayed in apartment exactly in Las Ramblas.
After getting to the city center, it was very good. We can easily find top brands, such as Pizza Marzano, Carrefour, McDonalds, Burger King, Starbucks just on the side of the pavement. The 'Las Ramblas' was somehow too crowded, and it's very popular that it is not safe out there, so we should have been very careful there. And I didn't even know why, the tour leader suggested us not to buy any food in ...
