...on a lot more about Berlin but I've already written loads and I'm probably wearing you out! 4 days is not enough when you don't know the best time and places to go, but I imagine is just perfect if you intend to visit a lot, regularly, which I do. Until December 2001 DM and EURO are both official currencies in Germany but the everyday payments are mostly based on DM. The schizophrenia of old divided Berlin has gradually evaporated. ...2000 i was not in Berlin and when i saw the Potsdamer Platz last summer all my scepticism was gone. All the buildings were nearly finished and i was absolutley positive surprised. It is a new ditrict with shoping centres, the modernst cinemas, bistros and cafes and also residental buildings. I was only in berlin for 1 week, not long enough by half to experience every thing I wanted to. accomadation; I checked into the Circus hostel near the underground station in rosa luxenburg Platz for 1 night when i first arrived but ended up spending the whole week there. Its clean, cheap, safe, the staff are very helpful, it has a nice reception area and a bar where you gat get drinks and a very freindly aptmosphere, also its within easy walking ... Read review

...half we were landing at Berlin (Tegel) airport Waiting coaches took us on a conducted tour of the city. One of the first sights was the beautiful Charlottenburg Palace by the river Spree, followed by the Berlin Dome, the Red Town Hall, the Reichstag, Humboldt University and the impressive Brandenburg Gate. ...March this year, I saw Berlin for the first time. I was not disappointed, I loved it! Sure, there is the Kurfuerstendamm area with Bahnhof Zoo (which has changed a lot from what I remembered having seen in the memorable movie "Christiane F."), where tourists can shop even on a Sunday. I went to Berlin for 8 days in September. We flew in and stayed in a flat in Charlottenburg. The Bahn's are easy to use and understand, though when we arrived we couldnt find a ticket machine for ages whcih was upsetting with all our bags. Also we never realised we had to validate our tickets in those funny red machines on the platforms - we has our tickets checked once but the inspector didnt say anything. Berlin was a pretty amazing place when I was there. For a small town boy the whirling diversity was enough to arouse me from the stupendous hangover I’d picked up during a three day sojourn to the NAAFI bar at RAF Gutersloh (sp?). The majestic avenues and parks of what was West Berlin, leading down to the Reichstag are a stark contrast to the drab former East Berlin, but equally differ from the centre of the west side with its glitzy bars, international ... Advantages: Good transport, lots of history, not that many tourists

The Berlin of 2000 is a wonderful city to visit and the hangovers of events of the past 100 years are plain to see. There is still a lot of differences between West and East, which are gradually merging together, but the benefits of the after events of reunification are slowly taking hold.
