Advantages: welcoming, clean, comfortable Disadvantages: no leaflets
...for me was the Hotel Bilderberg Garden situated just slightly out of the city centre. I am not normally one who likes the superior five star hotels but on this occasion I got a great deal and thought I would give it a try.
So, one thing I will say is that this hotel is not the easiest to find at first. On asking the locals about this hotel, one even replied "are you in the right country?" and others looked confused on mentioning the name. However, ... ...they eventually guided us to our humble abode. On arrival I then came to find that in fact this hotel was merely minutes from the city centre and once I was given a map of the city I could easily commute back and forth.
Before me I saw a red carpet laid out and knew this was definitely where I would be staying. I was greeted with a marble floor and well presented staff all smartly dressed in their orange jackets, easy to identify and welcoming. ...

Advantages: Wodnerful Staff, Clean, Classy, Good Location - Everything Disadvantages: I have not a bad word to say about them!
After a very unfortunate start to our city break to Amsterdam my friend and I arrived at this hotel. I want to tell you all the shortened version of what actually happened...
Our Tour Operator booked us into the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Den Haag instead of the hotel in Schiphol [where the airport is]. Not wanting to miss out on the sights of Amsterdam, and not wanting to travel 60km each way between the sights and the hotel we made our way to Amsterdam. ... ..."Sorry we're full, good luck!" from ever hotelier we were directed to the Garden Hotel by their sister hotel Jan Luyken.
We arrived to see a hotel in a quiet area next to a canal with ducks and boats...absolutely gorgeous area! Lovely houses, lots of plants and trees and of course the ducks and geese! The hotel had a red carpet from the taxi rank to the front door, marble ornaments and plant pots, and Italian style furniture for people to sit outside ...

Advantages: Luxury, comfort, and being treated like royalty - plus wonderful food. Disadvantages: Makes other hotels seem ordinary
A November holiday is not everyone's ideal - nor was it ours, but 'needs must.'... and it was our 30th wedding anniversary !
Since Easyjet were starting their Belfast to Amsterdam journey, it was decided that a break for a few days in Amsterdam was a possibility.... though for some reason colleagues in hospital and church kept teasing us like mad about coffee shops and red lights for some reason !!!??
1 LOCATION :

The Garden Hotel ... ...is located in the Museum area of Amsterdam.
Basically that meant it was a pleasant walk in the crisp November air to get to the Van Gogh museum, and then a bit longer walk into the centre of the city.
There are the legendary trams and the service is so brilliant, we used them a fair bit too. O for public transport in UK like that !
The airport is not too far away, and a special hotel bus service did the job both ways for us.

Advantages: Affordable luxury, great hotel. Disadvantages: Looking a bit dated.
...a nice trip.
Hotel Bilderberg Garden is about 2 and a half miles (if you know your way) from the heart of Amsterdam, in the district called the Old South. This is quite a 'well heeled' area and has some fantastic, if expensive shopping areas and resturaunts, as well as some nice archtiecture. Trams (number 5) go straight into town, though we walk everywhere; twenty minutes walking gets one to the Rjiks museum, 35-40 minutes, into KalvertStraat (centre).
... ...fantastic deal, with buffet breakfast and ferry tickets via Hull (we live in Yorkshire) for around £700, bearing in mind that the cheapest rooms are normally around £70 per person, per night, and breakfast is 19 Euro per person.
There was only 29 people in the hotel on xmas day, fab. The hotel is very much a business orientated hotel, meeting rooms etc., and as we left we noticed a plethora of Saabs, Volvo's and BMW's parked outside as it was a ...

Advantages: close enough to center of city but just far enough away to be able to walk/tram back and be totallly relaxed Disadvantages: none
My partner and I decided to visit amsterdam and we had a fantastic deal on a bmi baby flight so went on line to look for hotels.
I found the hotel on an amsterdam tourist website offering some 2 night deals.
I booked the hotel not knowing really what to expect.
On arrival in Amsterdam we got a taxi from the airport to the hotel which is situated in a residential area. the area is upmarket and the hotel is described as a boutique type hotel.
Its ... ...some mix up with the room booking - however the Reception Manager did not make an issue of it and apologised for the inconvenience.
On entering the room which was huge by any standards we were more than pleasantly surprised. There was everything we could possibly want including a jacuzzi bath ( room enough for one or two very little people, but that's not a complaint as it was bliss to lie there contemplating on one's own)
The room was decorated ...
