Advantages: good if you want to get drunk Disadvantages: run down, rough, needs a good regeneration project
I visited Blackpool last month- May- along with my friends and their babies. We were hoping to have an exciting family holiday at a town well known for it's family appeal, however, were quite shocked by the state of the town now. As well as the usual roadworks and building work which come with every town, Blackpool seemed to have a lot of falling down buildings, shut up shops and even a few burnt out bars! Almost every street was full of litter and ... ...about what kind of place blackpool becomes at night. From what I can conclude this one family orinetated town is definitely more geared towards the tacky hen do/stag parties and even then they aren't that amazing with it allbeing so run down. The family side of things has definitely been let slip. I felt dirty and uncomfortable there which was a great shame as I have happy memories of visiting Blackpool myself when I was young.
It is definitely ...

...so much to do in Blackpool that i never get bored of going there.
The pleasure beach is the place to be if you want the thrill of white knuckle rides and the fun and excitement of arcade machines and toy grabbers.
The miles of sandy beach are great if you want to relax in the sun or build sand castles and go on donkey rides.
If you want to see the sights of Blackpool you can take a sightseeing bus or you could go up the Tower and take in the view ... ...illuminations are simply breathtaking.
Shopping in Blackpool is great too with loads of indoor markets selling pretty much everything you want.
Also, there is Blackpool zoo if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy town.....so much to do in such a small place.
I recommend it!!!!!! ...

Advantages: A BRILLANT PLACE FOR KIDS AND ADULTS. Disadvantages: nothing except can get busy in summer and can be expensive.
Blackpool is a grat place to take children on holiday. They have a great sandy beach and plenty of sea for the kids to play in. There are donkeys on the beach to ride and my kids enjoyed that and was well worth the money. A place you must go is to the Tower, there is so much to do in there, we went to the circuswhich we enjoyed and the kids had there faces painted. You are mesmerized by what they do, and they do plenty, but it goes on for a while ... ...and a half, you get a sore bum, my baby got bored so not good for little ones. plenty places to eat aswell, they have a indoor play ball area for the little ones. And if you are brave enough climb to the top of the tower, you get a lift some of the way but then walk the rest, which is very tiring for little kids and adults aswell, you can also walk over or lay on the clear bit of floor and see all the way to the ground which is scary as you are a ...

...In many ways Blackpool is a strange place as soon as you leave the hustle and bustle of the promenade it is like being in a totally different world. It is a town of many different appearances really we still have the good old fashioned landeaus (horse and cart) and the classic tourist features, but Blackpool is really starting to move with the times and much of the areas visited by tourists are being modernised as we speak, this is a good thing in ... ...much overdue.
The rejuvination of Blackpool town centre is a step in the right direction for us , a town which is steeped in local history and has brought many so much pleasure over the years . So i will begin.................

...You cannot go to Blackpool without going to the tower, now a multi level theme park with attractions for young and old including the circus with Keith Harris (ok, isn't it time orville and cuddles gave up!) And the tower itself.
I would never want to live there, or even go there for my annual holiday, but I love it for the week I have there every couple of years. Blackpool, never let it change ...

Advantages: the pleasure beach Disadvantages: a dirty beach loads of tacky shops and greasy caffs
Blackpool - is one of those seaside towns that definetly has a faded feel to it -ie it was great prehaps 30 years ago but now is definetly in need of a re vamp and a make over! I hadnt been to Blackpool for over 15 years when I went this May! The beach was filthy! The town itself was just full of tacky little shops and grubby little caffs trying to eek out a living! It also smelt! the one redeeming feature was the pleasure beach with absolutley loads ...

...(see Alton Towers).
What Blackpool does have as an advantage is the lack of competition for the kind of services it offers, Blackpool is very compact and does the job of serving the tourist quite well in that respect, you are never very far from anything you need whilst you are there.
With the crouds comes the problem of crime, unavoidable really, you put thousands of tourists in one place and you have a problem no matter where you might be, its ...

Blackpool has to be my favourite costal resort in Britain. When I lived up North me and my family would visit about four times a year as a day out. Blackpool has something to offer everybody. Blackpool is situated in Lancashire, it's easily reached my car, bus, coach and train. If you do come by car, be there early as parking spaces fill quickly. If you're looking for somewhere to stay, you'll be spoilt for choice, there are camp sites, b&b that start from as little as £8 a night and holiday parks. Night life in Blackpool is amazing, ...

Advantages: Good fun, Compact Disadvantages: Expensive
Blackpool was designed to take your hard earned cash from you. It acheives its aim with devastating efficiency. This is especially true at The Pleasure Beach. The Thompson familly have owned the Pleasure Beach since its conception. Mrs Thompson still tests the new rides, against the advice of her doctors- she's 90 odd. Advantages: The pleasure beach Disadvantages: The cleanliness of it all
Blackpool in general is a very dirty place to visit. I live only 20 miles out of blackpool and it is a typical seaside resort. Its great for a hen night or stag du or for a day out at the pleasure beach or sealife centre but the sea in general is discusting and poluted and the streets are covered in litter. There is not so much to see except the tower but i must admit there is plenty to do.
Nightlife is fantastic, catering for all genres of music. ...

When i go i always stay at a bed and breakfast called jollies as it is run by a lovely couple who make you very welcome. It is also 5 mins walk from the pleasure beach (if you are a thrill seeker which i am not!!!!)or if you are a beer monster well, there is lots of pubs on their doorstep from karoake bars to the quieter family pubs whichever you want. There is also a pub round the ... ...cheaper than that can you?

...from a short break at Blackpool and realistically we have seen a sign of the times at this holiday spot. Unfortuanately the town council must shoulder some of the blame as well, you have a building site from South Pier to North Pier putting in a new sea wall and they are letting holidaymakers take their children onto the beach whilst this work is in progress, access to the beach is limited to passageways they have created. We went to Blackpool this year for our holiday and stayed on a caravan park just outside the city centre, Fleetwood.
Blackpool itself was great. Our last night there was the night they turned on this year's illuminations. It was done by Chris Evans with Radio 2 and is the only during the year that Blackpool Tower was lit up late in the evening.
