5 Stars THERE'S NOTHING FISHY ABOUT THIS PLAICE Review with images 15/11/2006

Advantages Advantages A great place to see fish; nicely laid out

Disadvantages Disadvantages May be a little pricey for some

It was a normal British summer's day. You know the sort - freezing cold, wet and windy! I was in the mood for doing something a little different with my young son. Having swung on the swings, mamboed at music group and giggled at granny for an hour, I decided we needed a change - and then I had a flash of inspiration. The Blue Planet Aquarium! I had driven past the Blue Planet Aquarium on numerous occasions but had never actually visited the place. Situated at the end of junction 10 just off the M53 motorway, the Blue Planet is in a prime location, not only for locals, but also for tourists ... more

Advantages Advantages lots to see, different

    Disadvantages Disadvantages annoying queues, expensive

Introduction We went to The Blue Planet Aquarium whilst we were staying in Chester along with several of our friends all with babies. We thought it would be a good place to spend a rainy day in northern England and although it was rather pricey we did have a good time location This Aquarium is situated of the M53 in Ellesmere Port, near Chester. It is a mile from Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet so an ideal place to go before hitting the shops! The website for the aquarium has directions on it which are quite easy to follow although there is sufficient signage on both the M56 and the M53 so ... more

Advantages Advantages Well laid out, fascinating to look at

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit expensive

For our latest Bank Holiday outing, we decided to visit the Blue Planet Aquarium in Cheshire. A friend of mine had been and enjoyed it, so we decided to take a look ourselves. WHERE IS THE BLUE PLANET AQUARIUM ? ******************************************* ********* You will find the aquarium at Junction 10 of the M53 in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. Once you come off the motorway, simply follow the brown signs and it's easy to find. There is a large carpark which is free. If you are travelling by train, the nearest station is Ellesmere Port which is approximately 2 miles away. WHEN IS IT OPEN & ... more

    Advantages Advantages see the fish

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none really

Given that I have on several occasions taken part in the Shark Dive experience at this aquarium it prehaps seems a little odd that it has taken me until now to visit as a 'dry' guest. But as I had taken a couple of days holiday from work and my Grandmother was asking to be taken on a day out somewhere, and my Aunt quite fancied it, it was decided that we would take a trip down to the Aquarium. The location couldnt be easier to find, from the M53 follow the signs from Ellesmere Port until the signs for the Aquarium appear, and the site is a 5 minute drive from the junction. There is a huge car ... more

Advantages Advantages You are guaranteed to see Sharks and some big ones at that!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cost. Its not cheap

I was bought a'Dive With Sharks' at the Blue Planet Aquarium so this review will be based on that experience, rather than the blue plant aquarium itself. In March 2000 my husband & I became qualified Divers in Goa with Barracuda Divers. My daughter who has this knack for buying really excellent presents decided to buy my husband for a Christmas present something with a bit of a bite. A dive with Sharks!! I helped her plan this but little did I know she was also planning to buy a dive with Sharks for me for me too. We were both chuffed to bits with our pressies. Blue Planet is voted 10th best ... more

Overview The Blue Planet Aquarium is an Aquarium situated in Cheshire, more accurately in Ellesmere Port. If you have ever visited Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet village, it is literally around the corner from there. It is the largest aquarium in the North West and was once the largest in the UK. It has been open since 1998. I have visited the aquarium twice, most recently this week. I tried to visit several years ago but the queues were so horrendous we decided to give it a swerve. That is one thing I would say, it can take ages to queue up in busy periods such as the children's school ... more

    Advantages Advantages Aquatunnel is amazing

    Disadvantages Disadvantages So expensive!

I have been to so many different aquariums, abroad and in the U.K but Blue Planet Aquarium is deffinately the best one i have been to. It is located in Cheshire, and is near cheshire oaks. I always make a day of it going to chester, as i live in manchester, it is not too far to travel to chester, but the aquarium itself isnt a full day out, so we usually go to cheshire oaks the same day too. Blue Planet Aquarium is actually the most expensive one i have been to. Tickets are not cheap, at £14.75 per adult and £10.75 for children. I dont know why they charge so much, it does get busy in school ... more

Advantages Advantages No queues, fun for kids

Disadvantages Disadvantages access for diasabled, no value for money

It was suggested to me to visit the Blue Planet Aquarium and with it not being far from home we decided to go one Sunday morning. My fella is always getting me up early so we can spend the day at wherever we are going. Situated near Cheshire Oaks Outlet Mall, the Blue Planet is signposted and very easy to get to from the main roads. Upon arrival we went inside to a large foyer and although it was very busy there were no queues to actually get in which was a bonus. \it cost £10 each for two adults for admission to the aquarium. The place itself is clearly signposted to the different attractions ... more

    Advantages Advantages tunnel was amazing

Disadvantages Disadvantages queue for a while, food bad, very pricy

I took my grandchildren here a few weeks ago and I was surprised by it in many ways both negative and positive! One of the biggest surprises I encountered whilst we had a day out here was the price. I was surprised by how expensive it was to go. At £15 an adult it was very steep. I would expect to pay this sort of price if I was to spend an entire day somewhere but this aquarium really is just somewhere you would go for a couple of hours. It took us a while to get served too so had to queue up for some time which was not good when having 3 young children in tow all wanting to just get in and ... more

    Advantages Advantages Layout

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pricey, not that much there

I\'d heard great things about the Blue Planet Aqarium before we went and my kids were really excited about going. When we arrived it looked as id we were going to waiting ages as the large car park was hammered but I was pleasantly surprised. hey had all the desks open and had an express chack in desk for people who had prebooked (we hadn\'t). I was very taken aback the prices we were charged £36 (this has now gone up to £40) for a family ticket (two adults two children). Luckily under 3\'s are free so we didn\'t have to pay for my little boy. The foyer was very spacious , and that was our ... more
