...like-minded city-types) had selected the Blues Bar & Bistro in Soho’s Dean Street as the place for our next meeting.
Having not heard of the venue before I set out to see what I could find out about it. Previous meetings having been at places such as The Ivy, Le Pont de la Tour and Nobu, it had a lot to live up to. Initial impressions were good.
Awarded an AA rosette for culinary excellence, reviews were uniformly good:

Advantages: great pre-theatre food at bargain price Disadvantages: slowish staff
...(Leicester Square, Covent Garden etc) Blues is haven of calm in a busy, busy area
Set in an expanse of steel and lots of beech with calming colours and a cream & blue colour theme the restaurant offers a daily 3 course special (pre-theatre times) for only a tenner! The choice is good - although portions a touch on the 'nouvelle cuisine' side - and the quality excellent
Modern British style of cuisine is to be found (french influenced) with good ... ...Oz selection but not heavy on the wallet..especially for central london.
Staff were brisk and efficient when booking (e-booked) but a bit slow on the delivery for a pre-theatre customer - may have been the kitchen staff but this wasn't their finest showing! Menus could be viewed online (very representative & worth a squint) and I found their overall approach very laid back & pleasant
